Looks like price matching Appliances Online again. Can get $20 off first order like the last deal, wait for the pop up then enter your details. Might need to do it incognito if not appearing.

Why so much hassle? Just buy $1 Aldi spaghetti….

    • +5

This is more fresher ? And fun to make ?

  • +1

wow that's pretty cheap. I had one of these a while back but ended up selling it on Gumtree. Just didn't use it enough to justify the space it took up.

  • Would this be economical compared to buying $1 dry pasta? I don't care about quality, it's for putting in my dog's food.

    • +2

First time I've heard of people putting dry pasta in dog food

      • +2

I cook them rice/pasta + meat (usually tinned tuna) + tinned tomatoes + fresh veg (carrots or cabbage whatever is seasonal). Chuck it all in the pressure cooker, cook up a week's food at a time, easy, cheap, nutritious and they don't fart like troopers.

        • +7

Bros dog eats better than I do.

        • Bow wow

In all seriousness you probably need to throw in some raw chicken carcasses or wings dogs need calcium from bones.

          • @811b11e8: I'm aware, I give them raw bones and the missus gives em a bowl of milk with a teabag in it and a biscuit for morning tea. I laughed so hard when I came home early and caught them.

    • I love Asian noodles, one of our friend have this machine and taste just like street food noodle back in Asia

  • It is good. But you wouldn't use it in most case. It took time to setup and clean. And you need kne more space for this machine. So I will pass this deal.

  • Cleaning is what kills this. Pasta is excellent once you work out the correct quantities of flour and water. But the cleaning… it's not a dishwasher job as dry pasta gets stuck in the extruders.

Wow, this RRP is 400, I wasn't expecting it to get any cheaper than it was over Xmas, I think I paid about 168 after cash back.

It's a great machine, pasta is very easy to make, doesn't take much effort and comes out great, can put eggs in to get a bit more protein, way better than dry pasta, and even leftovers days later still taste nice and soft/spongey. Also it's actually cheaper than buying pasta, which is saying something cos pasta is cheap

    • any recipe tips would be appreciated (though amazon says i have 1-4 weeks to wait :) )

      • +2

I just made up my recipe from the manual and what I felt like doing, the basic is 500g of flour and water up to the line on the provided measuring cup (there's actually 2 lines but they are close together and I don't know the difference, it works either way). The manual says the rule is you can use what you want as long as the liquid doesn't exceed the line, so I use 2 eggs, beat them with a fork, then top up with water then mix until even. The flour goes straight into the machine and then while it's running you slowly pour the liquid in. I tried with milk but it didn't make a difference, however I also tried wholemeal flour and I felt it was better, so I always use at least a third to a half of wholemeal and that improves it, but going all wholemeal might be a bit much (I did that with the penne and it was a bit dry, maybe with the spaghetti it will work but I haven't tried)

Thanks Op, I prefer buy from Amazon for easy return (Just in case)

    • Appliances online next delivery date May 22nd.

      • I wonder if that could mess up the redemption. What dates would be on the invoice? Paid and delivery dates?

Edit: Someone has already claimed the cashback so I guess it's a non issue.

  • Good quality bronze extruded dry pasta ($3.50 for 500grams) would be just as good, if not better than, plastic extruded fresh pasta

    • +1

not sure where you got that idea from…

      • Chefs

        • Really - I mean dried pasta and fresh pasta aren't even made from the same ingredients.. But if this does turn out to be true, I guess I'll just buy dried pasta from now on instead of home made.

          • @djsweet: Eggs are the only difference, and even then a lot of dried pasta uses eggs.

Definitely try some high quality bronze extruded dried pasta. So much better than the standard stuff.

Obviously filled pasta is a different thing altogether, but that machine doesn't do filled pasta shapes.

            • @prhino: Any recommendations? I had a look at Woolies, but it isn't obvious which are bronze extruded. Google suggests Barilla Al Bronzo, but it doesn't seem easy to get.

              • +1

@djsweet: La Molisana is good, and it's available at Woolworths

  • Thanks OP
