Optus 50% off Samsung Tablet A8 Deal Expiring

Anyone has stayed past 12 month? This should be the last month on the contract for that deal and Optus app still showing 50% off for the next month bill i.e $12.5 discount.

Has anyone stayed on this deal past 12 month and still get discount on 13th month invoice?

    That's estimated. Technically it should revert to 25 on the day your plan changes to month to month

  • i'm keeping an eye on it too

    at the moment the optus app says my discounted amount is due at the end of this month. if it changes next month i will immediately cancel. pity because i quite like their data pooling. possibly it will continue as is.

    in the past years, optus have offered some great deals mid-april. hopefully they will do so this year. i won't touch the optus 4g home internet plan because it sucks (capped at 25/2). i prefer a smaller quota but uncapped.

    otherwise, circles of life is offering some good deals for 12 months at the moment. i have no idea what their service is like.

    also there is mate with some competitive plans. i tried their $1 promo and it works great at my home, 100+ mbps

    • Where do you see that discount is due to end this month? My Optus SIM for this deal only connect to 4G, did you manage to connect to 5G with this deal when you put your sim in another phone?

      • when you log in to the app, on the page that shows the usage you click on payments down the bottom. for me it says "estimated next payment $xx.xx automatically charged on 01 may 2023". that might change towards the ends of the month or after the new month starts.

        in the payment history, my last invoice for march says "50% discount for 12 months $xx.xx" and device repayment "samsung tab a8 64gb (12 of 12)". in the plan details, the contract details it says "termination charges $0, device repayments left $0"

        so i assume 12 months is up for me at the end of this month and that the 50% discount is going to disappear next month.

        iirc, if you cancel a plan, optus will terminate the plan immediately and pro-rata refund you for the unused portion of the month, but you better ring and check that is indeed the case.

        the offer was for 4g, optus has separate 5g plans

        if you were waiting a long time for the tablet to be delivered then it might be the end of next month. you need to check your invoices / contract details

        • reading the t&cs, it says no pro-rata refunds. so you need to cancel before the end of the month if you don't want to pay for another month

      I have $0 device repayment showing. If I cancel sim plan 6 days early, will they end up back charging me for device and discounts? I’m so confused

    • What do you mean? You mean I should cancel that before porting out?

      • you need an active service to receive sms if you want to port out your number

        if you port out before the end of the month and have no services then i think all your optus subhub subscriptions automatically get cancelled.

        but my point was, make sure you are not going to get charged for an ongoing amazon prime trial subscription (if you took up the offer). the t&cs let them start charging after the trial is up.

        only $7/month but still money wasted if you aren't going to use it.

  • FWIW i cancelled mine today.
    Was offered $10 off current plan for 12 months to stay.

    I declined then they offered $5 off for 12 months or $10 off for 6 months if a family member or friend wanted to take my service over. They would also be eligible for 50% discount for 12 months if porting their number over.

    I declined and they also reminded me of the 6 month Amazon Prime offer in subhub. I was able to process the 6 months free after I cancelled the plan.

      do you mean off the full price or discounted price of the plan?

      • Their wording was "they might want to port their mobile number over to Optus, they will be eligible for a 50% discount for 12 months, all our plans are now month to month only."

      • payments are made in advanced so you should have made all your repayments. if you look at your last tax invoice it should say "Samsung Tab A8 64GB (12 of 12) $44.04"

  • Okay so I am literally with them guys as I got two a8s myself. And they are offering me $20 for 40gb data as the replacement.

  • I can confirm that I still get 50% off on my 13th month. So if you need the sim you still can keep it at $12.50 for 30gb month to month contract. The SIM only gives you 4G access though.
