polti steam cleaner 690 $849 at better homes and gardens [BHG] or $999RRP or polti 715 $1299 at BHG or $1499 RRP

my partner wants a steam cleaner
she thinks it might clean our carpets better
is there a better value for money vacuum/steamer out there
is this product good??????????

The Polti 690 steam cleaner is suitable for use on most surfaces including steam cleaning tiles and grout, ovens, toilets, showers windows and mirrors.

You can also sanitise mattresses, upholstery and carpets. The high temperature of the steam will kill bed bugs and dustmites while leaving your surface clean and dry.

The Polti Lecoaspira 690 is also perfect for detailing the car, polishing golf clubs, cleaning toys, windows and much more.

am asking for advice in case steam cleaners are overrated too.
maybe we need a good vacuum cleaner and then a deep cleaner once a year?

  • Not to be rude, but my 50c vinegar + bicarb-soda clean as good as any commercial products. Save your 1grant mate.

    • good point.
problem is what she wants, she gets, so lloking for the best value for money [cheapest] deal
also she wants to do other jobs
which this thing claims it does
never go to BHG shows next time!

  • I had bad experience with the cheap one from BigW ( $89). After a month or so the plastic get lose due to the heat ( expand ), plus the power button didnt work. We have to return it. That one states can kill bacteria as well ( hold at the surface area for 8sec, so it can "boil" the bacteria ). It's head is in triangle shape, i couldn't remember how much power it use.

Now back to the one you are looking at, im sure it will work on the same principle, it has various head but most of them have quite small contact area. If you gonna clean the whole house with it … you might think about the electricity bill.

I don't see any other way a steam mop can kill bacteria other than "boil" it. You might provide your partner some logic to think of.

Excuse my English, it's my 2nd language.

  • I don't know the product that you're looking at, but for mattresses it is recommended to use a 'dry' steam. Going by your description it sounds like it might be, but I'd be looking into it thoroughly.

I use it all the time, but certainly wouldn't like to use it on furniture. And it can be a b*tch when you let it dry on the carpet - has a tendency to cake up and be hard to remove.
