Decent Dashcams with Best App

With Autobarn launched their 20% Easter sale, I'm hoping SCA and Repco will follow.

I'm looking for decent dashcam although I understand this forum would be biased towards Viofo brand but I'm ok with that.

I've set my budget to approx. $800 for supply & install.

From my research, professional install for 2CH will cost me approx. $250 so I got around $550 for the dashcam, hardwiring kit & battery. Is this doable?

Just the normal requirement as everyone like i.e.

  • decent plate capture daylight/night. 2K or 4K not really fuss really.
  • small/slim profile.
  • good app navigation.
  • must 2CH.
  • won't park for a long time so don't need state-of-the-art external battery pack.

Hopefully not TL;DR

Can't you look up reviews for Australia ? That's what I'd do , I don't use dash cams myself …

Can't you look up reviews for Australia ?

      How ?

  • I have Nextbase front and rear, read their reviews and you will find out why I choose that brand

I wouldn't get a Blackvue again. The camera can cut out on hot days plus the rear camera died.

    must 2CH

    That molecule doesn't exist naturally.

    • Good to see you padding those post counts with quality 'zingers' so you can get to 200k

I'm using 70mai, it's alright for the price (got mine on sale years ago for $90 - A500s), clear footage, (optional) rear camera.

  • i have Navman Mivue 755 - records fine, files cannot be played on phone at all. Must use Navman desktop app to view videos
i also have 70mai m300 - video play back is choppy with sound on phone, have to mute in order to fix this issue. Playing the video file on desktop is fine also

  • When will Viofo make a dual dash cam with telephoto lens and a wide angle lens? When? The Americans have it so good.

    Especially as a 2CH.

Seems like a good thread to ask: any Recommendations for installers in Melbourne?
