Any Good 13 Inch Laptops below $1000

Looking for a 13-inch laptop that I can use for working while relaxing on the couch. Mainly browsing, emails, excel, word. Any suggestions? Worth waiting for EOFY sale?

Sounds like light tasks. Don't need anything fancy.
You could get a cheap refurb like this

5 years old CPU .. I think you can enjoy life more than use that ancient laptop

      • Will be more than able to handle

        Mainly browsing, emails, excel, word.

Even supports W11, if I'm not mistaken

sure it can, i agree .. but you just have to be patient for every task to load.

      • I used a similar CPU (i5-8250U) laptop as a cheap Uni laptop last year.
Absolutely fine for everyday tasks and light loads like what OP is doing. Even did a bit of MATLAB work on it.
It's not slow by any means, perhaps not as responsive as a new laptop but you won't be frustrated by it.
Anyway it's a suggestion, if OP wants to spend more on something newer, that's fair.
But if they're looking to spend as little as possible, this is a good option being an 8th Gen.
7th Gen and older is hard to recommend because Intel was not competitive before then and lack of official Windows 11 support

An actual 13"? There aren't many. If you can handle an extra inch, then one of these.

I'd go option 2 for the likely better screen quality. But if you want tablet style touch screen for the couch then the second.

  • I used to use an old 1st gen i5 laptop for this task. If you have a desktop, you can also remote desktop to it for certain tasks.

Alternatively, stretch the budget and grab an M1 MBA. Great standby time, fast. I use it almost like a tablet.

  • Don't want to go for Mac. My Son uses a Lenovo Yoga L13 and I love it. Nice, small and sturdy. Will have a look at the Acer if its available in any store.
