Buying a Toyota Prado GXL 2023

Hi fellow Bargainers, I am looking to buy a Prado GXL 2023.

Does anyone know a way to find one quicker?

I have called all of my state dealers and none have any in stock. Any help would be great. Looking for brand new and keen to pay RRP.

Thanks.

  • Sure you don't want a 2001 LandCruiser GXL? They are bigger and better.

    • Haha. No.
I usually keep my cars for 5-8 years. So a brand new wouldn't cause any issues for 5-8 years

  • Recently I saw brand new ones at Toyota dealer's preowned showroom. Priced about $12K above the RRP.

New model expected next year, do you need to urgently buy this year?

    • Yes. Had a 3rd baby and kids seat doesn't fit easily in current sedan

        stop having kids

  • I have called all of my state dealers and none have any in stock

Time to try interstate dealers? Otherwise it might also we worthwhile reaching out to a broker who can spam email out their entire network Aus-wide?

If you want a Dusty Bronze with leather and flat tailgate (lol), then try this dealer in Qld

    • That's good idea. Will try my luck
Have seen a bit of trend calling dealers in Nsw that they'll only serve their local area

  • Unlikely you will find the car at RRP without booking
waiting time is about 10 months-

  • You will pay RRP and wait 10 months…. only way is to pay a premium.

We waited 6months for our VX prado, and GXL 300 series we managed to get in 4 months.

    • Did you get any discount on the rrp ?

      • No, just avoided the price hikes which come with waiting excessive periods of time.
Out of interest what is a GXL selling for currently?

    Get a Kia carnival

  • Username doesn’t check out. Want to pay RRP on a model known to include a brand name premium.

If there isn’t any stock, how do you expect to get one? There is obviously a long wait for a popular model and you want to jump the queue?

You’ve got options. Buy new but wait for delivery or buy lightly used, pay a premium and get immediate delivery. Alternatively, get another new brand/model that is available now.

    • Hahaha.
I knew someone will come with this theory.
There are often some cancelled orders or some dealers have them in stock at last minute because of excess order.
My post was meant for those who have some experience about buying a vehicle with high demand and low supply. And who were managed to get it quickly

      • To get a cancelled order you’ve just got to be lucky. Just happen to ring at the right time.

        • +1

And you're still going to pay RRP for them. If you don't want it, they'll just move to the next person on the list.

Source: my current car is from a cancelled order. Did I get a discount because it wasn't the colour I wanted? Nope
