32GB DDR4 RAM for i5-11400f

I want to upgrade my ram to 32gig, system is used for Gaming

System
mag B560 MSI bazooka (2 slots free)
I5 11400f
Gtx1080
Currently 8gig X2 Kingston value ram 2666 MHz KVR26N19S8/8

I have messaged a large retailer and they have recommended

corsair-32gb-4x8gb 3200c16-ddr4-3200mhz-vengeance-pro-rgb-44380 $180

Or

I should upgrade by installing 2 more of the value ram (2666 19-19-19) $70

My question Is there any advantage to running 4 sticks of ram, and is it worth it ? I was thinking of pulling out the value Ram and just installing 2 X 16 gig like the

Corsair 3200 cl16 LPX $116

Am I missing something ?

You system cpu/chipset uses dual-channel memory, so no advantage for running 4x sticks.

If you were running a quad-channel system (for e.g. X299), then you'd also want to be running 4x or 8x modules for optimal performance.

If buying a new 2x16GB kit, consider buying faster memory (for e.g. 3200MHz DDR4).

You can also run mixed speed modules, but your system will run all Ram modules at the same speed of the slowest module/s used.

Also consider updating your system BIOS:

    • Thanks I really appreciate your reply :) you have confirmed what I suspected, and my bios has not been updated from what ever the manufacturer put on it

If you are using it for gaming, dual channel is best, 2 x 16gb, also going to 3200 or 3600 will give you a small 3-5% boost in frames.

Considering the price of ddr4 ram atm, you should be able to get what you want under $200

    is propably ideal.

You would be wasting your money if you need 32gb for gaming, 16gb is plenty fine

Yeah I thought that too, but sometimes host sandbox games and then join the game I'm hosting, a few chrome tabs and I have a stuttering mess. Also the ram I'm currently using is slow + ssd is with the OS is also slow

      • The biggest performance upgrade will be the video card, a 1080 is equivalent to a 3060, but a 3070 is about a 30% performance bump, and a 3080 is around 80% better. If you can find a 2nd hand 3080 for about $550-600, per dollar that's the best performance bump.

Check some YouTube vids for Hogwarts and Last of Us with 16 vs 32. Yeah the games might be poorly optimised but there are big performance jumps with 32.

With how cheap ram is you'd be crazy not to get 32 at this point.
