Has Anyone Bought a Japan Rail Pass from JapanRailPass.net Using a Debit Card?

Hi Japanese travelers,

I am about to purchase a JR pass from japanrailpass.net. Its been featured multiple times in OzBargain and seems to be an official seller.

Does anyone know if I can use a debit card (not credit card) to purchase it. My credit card charges 3.4% on international transactions.

"Payment can only be made with a credit card"

Thanks guys
(First time I'm going to japan, and I don't want to stress about problems when I'm there)

Edit:
Thanks everyone. I have purchased with my debit card. You guys just saved me a tonne. I owe you one OzBargain :)

I haven't bought that but I have made many transactions using a debit card in places where it said credit card was required. Unless there's any particular reason why it would have to be credit, I think credit card includes debit cards and charge cards. You think they'll reject an Amex Black because it's technically a charge card and not a credit card?

But yeah since your case is for overseas, hopefully someone has experience with the Japan Rail Pass. Try asking on Reddit too

It's fine, they just mean no bank transfer. Or cheques. Americans.

Americans might not know what a cheque is unless you spell it check.

      • Wait! There is more: No centigrades, no aluminium, nothing in metric, not even rubbish bins!
