I calculate it to be about $20 cheaper at the local lowest point, so it's not a bad price now.

$204 from dwi - delivered - but only if you use direct deposit (2% surcharge for credit cards/paypal).

    didn't check citiwide/cameraparadise/eglobal

    • $204 from dwi

avoid DWI like the plague at the moment…

      read the threads on WP…

      • you got a link jv? haven't purchased from dwi before, would be good to get some insight :)

read the posts in the last month or so…

they used to be good, but not any more…

        • okay - eglobal then, for $203 delivered, with no paypal surcharge!

i used eglobal quite recently - camera delivered in less than a week.

        • eglobal and DWI are owned by the same company…

        • $203.27 with cameraparadise.com (using the $10 voucher)??

(i was originally just trying to make the point that you can get it cheaper elsewhere…)

      • I've purchased alot from DWI and have had no problems regarding the items reaching my door within 4 business days. BUT… their customer service and warranty department is a nightmare, I'm currently in a dispute with them regarding my warranty and dept of fair trading has been brought in the issue(they're charging me to fix something that's covered by warranty on a galaxy note).

If the items are covered by international warranty (i think nikkon or cannon lenses are) then by all means, go for it.

        Otherwise stay away.

      • I never had any problems from DWI.
Last week just bought a 7D + a lens from them.
        Everything went smoothly.
bought other stuff from them previously.
I guess it depends on luck. I'd definitely buy from them again

      • Bought ~$5k of DSLR gear from DWI over the past year from both their ebay shop and website. No issues at all.

Bought a Canon speedlite and battery grip from them last week (albeit via their ebay shop) and they both arrived via FedEx 2 days after ordering, no problems.

I guess all Hong Kong sellers are the same though - great price and delivery speed 95% of the time, but the 5% when things go wrong - good luck finding someone who will do anything about it.

Just in case, FYI this lens doesn't have vibration control

    • you mean image stabilization?

      • +4

Canon calls it Image Stabilisation, Nikon calls it Vibration Reduction, Pentax calls it Shake Control, Tamron calls it Vibration Compensation, Sigma calls it Optical Stabilisation.

  • I wouldn't say this is a deal. As achw put, it can be found cheaper at DWI. Mind you, there are ripper lens deals to be found on amazon.de, this just unfortunately isn't one of them.

  • How is the IQ of this lens? any better than kit lenses?

  • Cheaper on ebay…

  • image stablised?

    • i think its $200 more for image stabilization
If it has VC in the title it has image stabilization

  • The Canon 55-250 works a treat and has image stabilization. I saw it at $148 delivered a few weeks back.
I was very surprised by the sharpness at all apertures and focal lengths especially considering it is one of the standard lenses in the two lens kit. Check out some reviews before buying.
