I have accumulated 140k Qantas points.I don't have any travel planned at this stage but just wondering what is the best use of that amount of points?

Keep holding onto it for when you have travel plans?

There is a Qantas wellness app that lets you accumulate very small amounts of points daily by setting steps goals. This will keep the points active.

Pretty much all of the best uses are for classic flight rewards. Avoid gift cards and points plus pay if you want to maximise value.

If keeping them active is the concern, downloading the wellbeing app or donating a few points to charity helps there

  • Buy a toaster

  • Business class flights and upgrades are generally the best use of points by far, you could fly one way to Europe or USA on Business for those points, so I’d hold onto them for when you can travel!

Another option to keep the points active and accumulating is to link a Woolworths Everyday rewards card to your QFF account. Every $2000 spent at Woollies coverts to 1000 QFF points minimum. More with boosters and deals.

you can donate it to me

  • I wound up buying something on sale that I actually needed in early covid, because I figured I wouldn't be flying for at least 2 years and I got about 0.8c per point. I figured they'd drop in value by at least 5% a year so it worked out kinda samesame as a 1c valuation.

You can always take the risk on selling them too, but during covid I didn't want to get near anyone and I'd only do it face to face.
