Good Thai Restaurants around Parramatta/Strathfield/Ryde Area?

Hi all, looking for a good Thai restaurant in the Parramatta/Strathfield/Ryde area.

Specifically looking for a place that does a good/authentic pad thai.

There's plenty of good ones in the city but I don't know any good ones out west.

Any recommendations? Anyone who is Thai or any Thai mates who have suggestions?

    Thai La-Ong parra

    • If their lunch specials are anything to go by, avoid

Holy Basil in Parramatta is absolutely amazing. The pad thai is very good and the massaman curry is one of the best I've had. Give it a go.

It's also always really busy so that's a good sign.

I used to go to Holy Basil but I felt the quality declined a bit in the past 2 years or so, the meat has been kind of tough and the seafood isn't that fresh.

      • Oh really? I've had the massaman curry probably a dozen times over a year and it's always been tender and pull apart. We never get seafood though so can't comment on that.

Given how busy it is all the time I'm surprised to hear anything like that.

    • I've not been to HB in Parramatta but the one that used to be in Barangaroo always had consistently great food

    Strathfield

Don't listen to these muppets here. I was born and raised on this food.

Thai Paragon North Strathfield or Buddha Raksa Thai Restaurant in Enfield. Best thai in western sydney. Buddha Raksa being slightly more fancy.

    • +1 for Thai Paragon

  • Lime Kitchen Granville
    House of Thai Bankstown
    its Time forThai Haymarket

If you're ever out in the wild west, try Green Peppercorn in Fairfield - great menu & very authentic Thai food.

Went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago for a birthday & walked straight past the rather unassuming entrance. Fab interior & the food was excellent.

  • Not really what you want to hear but for me it’s Spice I Am or nothing really. It’s just that much better than everywhere else in Sydney.

I’m with you on your opinion on holy basil, even at its peak I’d still say spice I am left it for dead

On the off times I’ve learned to cook Thai, it’s pretty easy to do
