From their twitter account: As part of our 20th anniversary, we have remastered our first documentary: The DVD (2009), and it's now available for free to watch here: parkwaydrive.ffm.to/thedvd

"THE DVD" is a 70-minute documentary following the rise of the Australian metal-core juggernauts Parkway Drive. The film follows the quintet from humble beginnings on the beaches of the NSW North Coast to storming stages all over the world. Part documentary, part extreme-sports video, part live footage…all metal!

This is just a youtube video.

It looks like it was recorded with VHS.

    • JV, I’m pretty sure your memory is failing. VHS was horrible - roughly half the resolution of 640x480.

      • S-VHS ?

        • Decent, but component video FTW

          Edit: oops, that’s cables. But…

VHS resolution is about 230 horizontal lines. S-VHS resolution is around 400 horizontal lines, or greater.

          Still not 480 horizontal ;)

Back when you were younger, more angsty and riddled with the hormones and stage of brain development that made things feel more important… :(

“I used to be with ‘it’, but then they changed what ‘it’ was. Now what I’m with isn’t ‘it’ anymore and what’s ‘it’ seems weird and scary. It’ll happen to you!"

Yeaaaaahhhhh… It makes me sad. Horizons was such a good album, and then they went weird into the deep generic metalcore. I loved seeing them live in Byron when they were still in their infancy as a band, $10 at the local youth centre. Winston had another band called Rain Dogs that was also pretty cool, and he always used to be around when his brother was playing in 50 Lions. Good times.

I'm not even a Parkway fan but found their episode of Australian Story to be really powerful viewing. I highly recommend fans and non fans alike check out it - chronicling the pressures a successful band goes through and how they dealt with therapy.

Came here to say the same thing - great episode, I cried like a baby.

    • It was really great, I have a huge respect for how open they've always been but this was just on another level.

Fantastic bunch of dudes! Saw them at Knotfest.

Winston blew his voice out live on stage but kept the show going until he literally couldn't speak anymore. Mad respect

They were incredible in Brisbane! \m/

I was there for that, too. First time seeing them live and was everything I expected it to be and a whole lot more.
I’d watched a few interviews with Winston and he seemed like such a nice, humble dude. Pushing through that set just cemented that for me. What a bloody incredible band.

Local lads made very good…all went to Byron High with my kids. The band still tours internationally and are big in Europe.
I caught up with Ben's Mum the other day, having not seen her for a while.
