Ghosted after Returning Faulty Laptop to GG.tech365 eBay Store

Bought an Intel laptop about 6 months ago from gg tech 365 from a deal posted on here.
Laptop died about 4 weeks ago.

I first contacted Intel and after trying to troubleshoot over the phone, they concluded i should return it to the seller for a refund/replacement and gave me a case number.

Contacted seller who sent me a return label. They confirmed they received it on the 29 of March.

Since then, I have received little to no communication except for the unhelpful (we are assessing it.. we will update you soon etc), then totally ignoring my messages. Ebay support is useless too and all they could do is email the seller and urge them to resolve the issue. Finally, told me to contact ACCC.

Now this is the only computer I own and I have been really struggling without one. So can’t afford to be more patient.

Should I contact ACCC or try a chargeback? I paid with a CC.

Can I buy a laptop now while I am trying to get my money back and not accept a replacement if the seller comes back and offer me one?

Thank you

By all means, report it to ACCC - if they get enough reports about the same business they may investigate - but don't expect them to do anything for you individually.

The Office of Fair Trade (in your state - deme has already linked QLD's above) is who you want to contact for individual issues with a business.

      • Thanks for dittoing what I said.

        • Anytime!

Was more highlighting that the ACCC is more for systemic issues and that the link you provided was for the Office of Fair Trade :)

gg.tech365 = Shopping Express = Kai Seng Computers Australia Holdings Pty Ltd

SE are the worst RMA'ers in the business - even worse than MSY before they got smashed by the ACCC multiple times

    Update 1.
After a few more emails, I have been givin the contact "James" as others have, and MB has been sent to manufacturer for testing. This is the MB they supplied and I sent back straight away as it did not work. I have now lodged a claim with Fair Trading and PayPal as no refund, no communication and no interest from "James" or Shopping Express.

    Update 2.
Wow, received an email with no apology, no further information, just confirmation that a refund had been issued after 20 days. Just avoid the hastle and buy elsewhere, I know I will from now on.

Too late for charge back .
And the ACCC will do nothing .
Save you time and wear it .

    • What are you on about? Requested a chargeback today and was asked to provide all the evidence. They never mentioned anything about it being too late.

“How long should I keep my receipts?

In general, most cases will have 120 days period to raise a chargeback. However, rules from Mastercard® and Visa® allow some chargebacks to be raised up to 540 days from the date of purchase. Best practice means you should be keeping all purchase-related material for a minimum of 540 days.”

You might be thinking of disputing a fraudulent transaction?

        • Either way, there is no way in hell i can’t do much when i have evidence the merchant asked me to send the product back, then they get to keep the product and the money!

I’d literally walk to sydney if i have to and punch whoever opens the door when i knock at that address I returned the laptop to.

  • Any update on the matter? Curious to know as I sent mine for repair as well..

They eventually refunded me. I think after they had been contacted by the bank.

      • That's great. I used ebay GC to pay most of it… and the laptop has been sent to the office for 2 weeks with no update L(
