Hmmm... Technical freebie to run 14 km

https://www.airtasker.com/tasks/run-promo-at-city2surf

Airtasker is offering $10 for people to run with their branded shirt on - technically saving you $75 for late registration and making you $10 richer. But it would be more work than I've ever done in my life and I've just been self-diagnosed with moderate laziness.

I assume they'd have to transfer registration in your name so you'd get formal recognition when you win the race…

  • "Technically"… just need to

    1. Go to Airtasker's CBD office to pick up the T-shirt
    2. Get to the race early
    3. Actually finish 14km run
    4. Ask someone to take some photos while extremely exhausted
    5. Email the photos to Airtasker
    6. Wait for 10 bucks to appear on your PayPal account

Also for desk-bound lazy bum like me who would have great difficulty completing #3. It would not give your company a good image while someone wearing your shirt had a heart attack in the middle of the run (although that might get them some TV coverage).

But I guess if you are going to partake on City2Surf anyway, then why not…

  • It doesn't sound like they are paying for your registration. Seems like if you are already running the race, then make $10 and a t-shirt.

  • Don't pay for registration, save $40

  • I thought it was costly enough (in terms of time, transportation, caloric sustenance etc) to get to the CBD to pick up the shirt, but now upon re-reading it does seem likely they assume you've already registered (or plan to run illegally).

As an aside, I'm so happy I normally ride a bike because I just caught a one-off bus in Sydney on the weekend and whoaaa - one day of travel would dwarf the average saving acquired on an OzBargain deal :)
