OXO Good Grips Covered Frypan 30 cm: https://www.harrisscarfe.com.au/kitchen-dining/cookware/fryp…

Both seem to be solid non-stick frypans, and they've been recommended by America's Test Kitchen as the best non-stick frypan.

$50 seems to be the lowest price they've been at (on OzBargain at least). I collected these from Harris Scarfe at Blacktown. It seemed like they have a decent number (10+) in stock.

  • What are people’s favourite pans? I am on the lookout for a set, but I am getting bamboozled by all the options.

    • Baccarat non-stick have been really good for our house

Once you are converted to carbon steel or cast iron, you wont go back.

    • May come as a surprise, but several ALDI sold models are top. I personally hate OXO stuff as their silicone feels terrible in my hands, and can become gunk easily

    • I gave up on non-stick pans. I just bought this recently and waiting to try it out:

A bit exy but hopefully it will last a lifetime. Paid $305 after 15% discount. Make sure to watch couple of YouTube videos on how to use stainless steel pans.

Tri-ply stainless steel is highly regarded.

People say that food sticks, but if you heat it up right, there’s minimal sticking. And you get nice charring.

I prefer to stay away from non-stick coatings as much as possible.

Apparently Ikea to a good tri-ply SS range.

Cuisinart Multiclad pro is very highly regarded. All-Clad D3 is top-tier, but very expensive. BUT they are ‘buy it for life’ pans.

I have cuisinart and am very happy.

Oxo do a Stainless steel range too, also tri-ply. I never saw any reviews of them though

Different strokes for different folks, they both have their place.

I'm not preheating a SS frying pan just to cook an egg at 6 in the morning.

      • Same. I have a couple of non-stick pans for eggs too

        • Yeah an omelette on my stainless is bad news

      • I cook all types of eggs quickly and easily on SS. Takes 2 mins to heat it to the right temp. Perfect amount of time to get the eggs and oil out while the heating happens.

Scrambled, fried, omelette. All easily done on SS.

        • Yeah or I could just crack an egg on the pan with no oil, doesn't get much faster than that.

    • We've made the move away from Teflon to stainless steel, no issues with sticking. Only take 1-2 minutes to preheat and then oil the pan. Rather spend the extra two minutes and avoid possible health issues with non stick coatings which flake after some time.

    • So I did a LOT of research when I was buying my next set. All-Clad is great, but we ended up going with Costco's Kirkland set instead. It's a 5 ply design comparable to the All-Clad D5 (now discontinued and circa-$1,500 from memory) obviously not made in the USA but the quality is right up there. It's got all the smart design features you look for (sharp lip to pour liquids easily etc.). Even with a Costco membership, this worked out to be way cheaper that the All-Clad D3 and the Cuisinart Multiclad Pro (Although the Cuisinart is a 12 piece set I believe).

    • how about scanpan? bout to pull trigger on a 24cm one.

I have a 6L pot from then from Amazon, liking it so far for stewing. But obviously pan frying things will be a different game altogether so keen to hear your experience.

Scanpan for me … they lasting so long, used it on daily basis. If you do end up with sticking, you can always claim warranty and get new. Me already had few replacements after a while

  • Apparently if a magnet sticks to the bottom of any pans etc.it's OK to use on a ceramic cooktop.
