[Resolved] Cashback Apple Edu 10% off Cashback

Related to this deal Apple Edu Cashback 10% capped at 100 dollars Similar experiences to lots of peers. The purchase wasn't tracked automatically so had to be manually tracked.

It is one week overdue to approve the cashback so I contacted them. Got rejected today.

I followed every step correctly to claim the cashback. I am going to submit a complaint to Consumer Affairs.

From the resolution details that the store has provided to us I can see that this particular sale has not been attributed to Cashrewards. This means that after clicking through Cashrewards, a click was made (likely unknowingly) supporting another marketing channel which has resulted in Cashrewards not receiving any commission on your purchase to pass back to you.

Due to the resolution outlined by the store, this transaction has been marked as declined in your Cashrewards account. We’re just as disappointed as you are that the outcome is not what either of us had hoped for. Just like you, we haven't received any payment for this sale.

There are quite a few reasons why transactions may be attributed to another channel other than Cashrewards. I've listed a few below that I find are the most common.
Having opened other web pages (including search sites, social media, other store sites) or web browsers whilst visiting the store;
Clicking though to another page from a banner or ad on the store's webpage whilst shopping;
AdBlock/Antivirus/cleanup application tasks may remove tracking cookies (which are required to track transactions); or
Use of a coupon code not listed on Cashrewards.

    Do you need them to interpret the reason for being declined ?¿

    There needs to be a my cashback got rejected megathread.

    Here's another example from the other day

    I had the exact same response for 2 reject Apple cashback from late January 10%, $100Cap. I also considering lodging to Consumer Affairs Victoria, since I feel that they can reject any cashback with generic BS reasons without any clarification.

    Also noted, probably will be ideal next purchase use video recording to demonstrate their BS generic claims.

    Same/similar BS reasons:

    This is the BS response they gave:

    Another marketing channel received the commission means that your sale was not completed through Cashrewards and we did not get any payment from Apple to pass on to you as cashback.

    Several factors can ultimately lead to loss of attribution; the most common is the presence of adblockers, having multiple tabs open and shopping around at the time of purchase. This also includes the use of comparison sites and clicking on marketing material within the store’s website. It is also essential to place your order within 3 hours from clicking to Cashrewards.

    This isn’t to say that any of these are the exact cause of the loss of attribution, however by sticking to our guidelines, you’ll have the best chance in obtaining cashback in the future.

    Is it me or does this response sound chatGPT bot like, :)

    • I am wary of asking, but will anyway - the commission has been attributed to someone else, they are not getting paid so neither are you.

      What about this is unclear or BS (that you can prove anyway)?

      • Hi, I get your point. I think by using Cashrewards' services and following the steps listed on their website, there is an expectation and implicit contract that this shall be correctly tracked. Apple, Cashrewards and the user shall receive their part in the bargain.

        When this doesn't happen, I don't believe the burden of proof falls on the user. Cashrewards needs to prove that they bear no responsibility in this. Otherwise, they should compensate the user accordingly.

        That templated responses can be used arbitrarily to decline any Cashrewards, even legitimate ones. I am not convinced that it is good enough. So I would invite Consumer Affairs to take a second look and share their view. To the very least, I believe this will encourage Cashrewards to do better on their part in the future.

        • So what browser addins are you running?

          • @Clear: The same addins that had been successfully tracked in Cashrewards before.

              @leefire0023: Which are?

              • @Clear: Given the reluctance it's blatant they're ones that CR say not to use and can cause interference… which they evidently have in this case.

        • I would invite Consumer Affairs

          You might have more luck here

      • Is about being transparent, instead of making up lame generic excuses on automated messages after being pressed for answer when the cashback is overdue.

        I don’t think anyone will believe Apple has 3rd parties Ads or any Ads running on their website, making such statement doesn’t exactly give any credibility.

        Vague, generic response also does not give any confidence to users for any future transaction via Cashrewards.

          ..now I understand why they have those generic cut and paste replies

    Hi. Are you sure your cashback is rejected? I’ve just run a report and can see none declined. All orders from the promo you quoted are in pending status and will all be approved in the next few days. Please check your account and let us know. Thanks.

  • In fact @leefire0023 @omegagt, all transactions from the Jan 28 Apple promo are now approved to members. Please refresh your My Rewards and check. Thank you.

      Hi, I can now confirm it has been approved now. You are welcome to check the declined email in ticket #960521.

      Thanks for making this right.

      Good that I don't have to waste my time proving to some self-nominated expert/judge here with no sense of boundry and no power to rectify this.

      • Hi, and thanks. Read the ticket and Win actually responded yesterday with an apology for the error he made and reverted the transaction. I think you generated this post prior to reading his response. Anyway, it was a simple error, and an incorrect response to the wrong member. It's all sorted now, and that's all that matters. Have a wonderful weekend.

          Well, I posted here after replying to the initial decline. Win's later response claimed to set transaction to pending and a "try our best"claim. That is different to approved. Anyway, it is sorted out now.

        No need to have a big sook about it. The way you replied made it sound like you had adblock or something like Honey that's well known to interfere with the tracking cookies etc. used to track your purchase.

        It's important for people to understand programs and browser plugins for blocking tracking, ads, finding deals and so forth interfere with affiliate tracking. Only this week uBlock Origin added a massive list of affiliate network URLs to their block list.

      Thank you again @tightarse, can also confirm it has approved now.

  • Same thing happened to me today.

    Related to this deal, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/783260, it was overdue to approve the cashback so I contacted them. Got rejected today.

    Never had any luck with cashrewards when the cashback amount is more than $50.
