Who Makes The Best Quality/Price Basics in Fashion?

I am wondering from the many whom have tried, worn various brands who makes the better quality well priced fashion?

I am talking, BIG W, TARGET, H&M, ZARA, K-MART ETC

I am in need of some new Chinos, Tees(I may hold off as i'm in Europe in May/June)…tho France isn't cheap but Italy may be okay during sale time.
Bonus points if you're FIT, and recommend brands which fit a more muscular frame.

It doesn't have to be the cheapest, honestly I got a TEE from Tarocash for $10(Now they don't go below $20) and it lasted me forever and fit great!

Thank you

I’m been happy w the Kmart shirts and chinos/jeans. So cheap I just buy new sets every 3 months or so to keep it fresh.

    • My issue is, XL is fitted around shoulders but super loose around my W.

I wish they had a slim fit.

    • Are your kmart clothes wearing out within 3 months?

I refuse to buy most kmart clothes because they deliberately destroy the planet, because their products do not last and go straight to landfill.

I buy Trenery or Sportscraft on massive sales (eg $20 to $50 per item inc jeans), why, kmart clothes wearout/break/de-shape/unthread etc within 2-3 months whilst I still have Sportscraft shirts from 5 years ago worn every year many times and still look 90% condition.

      • well this is my first trial of them so far, am about 6 months in and replaced my first 3 shirts I bought. Within say 3 months yeah a bit faded and doesnt hold shape uniformly.

dont get me wrong, im not tossing them. im either wearing them for sleep/garden work or cutting up and using as rags in my workshop.

  • best and less is best

NEXT UK for quality/price. They ship to Aus within a week.

  • H&M is my go-to for basics.

  • Costco pants.

Uniqlo is the best IMO and you get frequent cashback from the site as well.

    • I second Uniqlo but also Zara stuff when it's on sale is pretty good value for the quality.

    • Free hemming is great

  • Target do good chinos etc if you're below a 40/42

  • I think H&M sales have better quality and better looking and better cheaper clothes than any of those cheap department stores. Even if the mens department is just a third of a single floor while women's clothing takes up every other level.

Kmart clothes are the worst imo, thin fabrics that fall apart after a few washes.

  • If you enjoy shopping while on holidays, don't buy anything here - head straight to Primark: UK plus 13 countries in Europe

M&S is good quality and reasonable price, but it helps if you know your sizing.

Who Sells The Best Quality/Price Basics in Fashion?

Companies in China, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Portugal, etc. manufacture them. The retailers you mentioned could be sourcing their apparel from the same factory.

For fit and whole food plant based diet, only Uniqlo jeans/chinos size 28 fit me now (there are a few exceptions). There is more variety in retailers of shorts.

Icebreaker is more exy but their base layers will accentuate any muscular frame (even more so years ago).

  • Uniqlo

  • Target for higher quality but slightly $$ for the basics, Kmart in terms of price and quality

I like Jack and Jones. I buy them from the iconic when it is discounted

SHEIN look okay, but unsure about the quality.

I guess I should drive around and try them on everywhere, always will be better than ordering online & having to return.

Shein are absolutely dreadful - I would avoid. Every time I've gotten something from there, it looks great on the screen but terrible in person. Plus it's fast, fast fashion so terrible ethically (well, worse than other options which aren't great themselves!).

  • Whenever I google this question and read forums, the most popular answer is Uniqlo, I have never bought form there tho. I normally buy Sportscraft and Trenery on sale.
