  • be aware that its really easy to get too ambitious when making a dough and make too big an amount at once (without it being too obvious) , then strip the worm gear in the front of these things.

Ours is heading in to get this done this weekend. hoping its not too pricey.

I pulled mine apart to do a re-grease. They are very easy to service if you've ever done an oil change on a car you're half way there in skills. If you could buy the gears yourself and some white grease you could do it in an hour or so. This video seems to cover the process, however I skimmed it very quickly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3gHpbHT8mc

  • Wouldn't buy one again. They look great, but others provide much better power and durability.

    • what brands& models come to mind?

Have a kenwood chef use it a few times a week for dough including bagles no complaints just gets the job done had it for 3 years

        • Did you have a Kenwood previously. What chef have you got.

@3DL3: First mixer I have owned. After reading lots of forums found the basic one had good user experience in comparison to kitchen aid it also has a higher dough weight. Partner has used to make biscuits and cakes and has been happy too model I have is KVC3100S doesn't look as pretty as more expensive but that is not why I bought

      • The KitchenAid we have has always struggled with dough over 500gms, and even with the scraper mixer (not for dough obviously) it seems to leave a lot of stuff unmixed at the bottom.

Relatives have Kenwood and Breville mixers and they seem to do a much better job.

        • Kenwoods do have a higher dough capacity, but don't have the longevity of the Kitchenaids.

Unless you're doing really solid doughs though, struggling with 500g dough is a bit strange. They're rated up to 1150g, and I do 1kg pretty regularly without issue.

Your tilt head might need adjusting as well if it's not incorporating things properly.

  • In this economy?

  • Egad! So ixpinseve.

  • Much better off getting the KSM7581 pro line model at this price point.
