Gaming Chairs in Sydney You Can Check out?

Hi all, I'm Sydney-based and would like to upgrade my Fantastic Furntirue gaming chair. However, I find that I couldn't find places in Sydney that would have a decent selection of them that you could actually check out in person and sit on them. Any suggestions? I don't mind to commute a decent chunk of time to check a good selection of chairs out. I just don't wanna buy a chair online without ever testing it. Thanks for any suggestions.

but id personally goto living edge and get HM Aeron chair and be done with it

    • I have gotten over a decade of use out of my Aeron, but I would not suggest someone go out and buy one new. Especially if they are on 'gaming chair' budget.

Secondhand Mirra 1 or Mirra 2 might be more inline with that kind of budget.

@OP the big benefit to these kinds of office chairs they are properly built to last. When someone talks about how durable their Aeron has been, they are talking 10+ years. When people talk about their 'fantastic quality' gaming chair, they're talking maybe a 12-18 months. Gaming chairs are either cheap pieces of shoddily made shit, or they might be good but don't have any sort of track record that can be trusted.

    • thread over!

    • And if you do want to get one go for Secretlab. Easily the best "gaming" chair.

  • @Wiadro the HM Aeron that's over 2k? What value does it have that justifies the price?

    • The value is in the lumbar support for your lower back over continuous use. You honestly have to sit in a HM to understand. You also need to look at the price tag as an investment in your back and posture if you have to sit for long periods of time.

Most people can't justify the RRP which is fine. To be honest, a lot of people (including me) have bought HM chairs used for a fraction of the cost.

While I admittedly can't speak to the Aeron personally, I'm currently sitting on a Mirra 1 (no armrests) and it's the best chair I've ever sat in in terms of comfortability and back support. Also, it tilts backwards and maintains that back support like no other office chair.

Aerons were never designed by HM to be 'ergo'. I have no idea how this has become perceived wisdom over the past several decades.

Aerons and Mirras are great chairs, but they are not egronomic miracles. They just happen to be 'pretty comfortable', a corporate design darling, and reliable AF.

I have a couple of Mirra 1s- was it an easy matter to take off the armrests? I'd like to do that to mine to reduce their width, but haven't found any good guides. Don't want to just go at it with a T40 tool, especially as the Torx bolts on the armrests seem to be crazy tight to start with.

Sorry, I bought mine used and armrests were not included.

ive had one for 11 years, wouldn't sit on anything else, at work i have a standard chair and i cant sit on it for longer than 30 min, while the aeron i can sit on all day and i feel fine.

      • Thanks

  • AKRacing have a showroom in Kirrawee.

    • super helpful cheers

  • I would seriously recommend going for a non-gaming chair. The best chair I've ever sat in was a Steelcase chair, I think it was a Series 1 which is one of their cheaper ones. It was just an extremely comfortable chair.

Even if you're set on a gaming chair I would highly recommend at least checking out a Steelcase showroom and getting a feel of what their chairs are like, there's one in the Sydney CBD.
