  • I bought one of the 23 inch last time round. The number of dead pixels were horrendous, but it was a very easy return as well.

  • Anyone know if the Bauhn PVR is any good? Looking do a cheap, easy to use dial tuner PVR for an aunt of mine.

I haven't used it, but basically no cheap PVR is any good. Even the pricey ones aren't perfect. That's pretty much the reason, although the PQ physically upsets me in the new TV, I haven't replaced my mum's VCR which she still happily uses.

I personally don't see any standout "bargain"s here. The MP3 players are the generic Chinese ipod shuffle clones that you can pick up from ebay or DX or similar. The TV is not a bad price by any means but nothing special, and the universal remote? Get a logitech harmony.

Despite my negativity, these aren't bad buys but I don't see anything that gives me the ozBargain "wow!"s

      • Yeah, definitely do not buy those chinese mp3 players…
You can hear a helicopter sound in the background.

It's actually due to the fluctuation of the sound waves. Look it up on Dx….

Disclaimer: I wasted $15 on one from dx.

        • Don't get the MP3 player.

I bought one from Aldi 2 years ago for $20 and the battery only lasted 2 hours. Transferring files was a painful process as sometimes the USB didn't detect it.

thanks for the feed back guys. this is one of the reason i love about ozbargain. not just finding a bargain but also expose bad products and warn fellow ozbargainers. well done guys and thanks

  • The tv is really good if u r like me and dont trust internet purchase for a tv and rather prefer face to face service and return apart from that its still good price and I got a 32inch non full hd tv with dvd player and its been very good to my suprise. Also for the mp3 player; its really good price if you want to buy it for a 10 yr old or something that takes to school as you wont care if it gets lost other then that reason yeah they arent that good lol comparing to apple. I dont know how cheap this is but they also have for same sale a 16gb usb for $12.99

  • 32" Full HD was $299 about 1 1/2 year ago(the JB HiFi deal)
    a 23" Full HD (with DVD) still $189 1 1/2 year later?

would you say "wow"? I won't!

just to correct you , its LED Full HD with 5 star energy rating ( compare with soniq 2 star or less? ) not just FULL HD. Now you made me "WOW" hahaha

  • And for your reference JB is selling SONIQ 23" HIGH DEFINITION LED LCD DVD COMBO for $249 not even full HD.
My point is you have to compare the price on similar products at PRESENT TIME not 1 or 2 years ago.

  • These PVRs are cheap.
Still have the first Bauhn one from Aldi, sitting in the corner gathering dust.

If you can afford it go for a Topfield.

I have the TRF2460 Masterpiece HD PLUS setup with TAPs that allow me to add programs to record from anywhere in the world, even from my ipad.

Hooked up to the home network, I can play anything that is recorded on it right from inside my media centre (XBMC).

Once you have used a decent PVR, you will never go back.
