Refund Issue with Samsung Australia Online

Hi everyone,

Really seeking some advice, I have purchased S22 from Samsung Online Store- Never received the product and have been pending refund for over 3 months with Samsung.

I have confirmation by the courier that it was returned to sender, which is Samsung - yet Samsung still saying it's waiting confirmation from the warehouse to confirm the product is being returned. No clear time-frame and repeat the same things that the refund can not be issued until confirmation from warehouse. I have provided them with the tracking details and confirmation that it has been returned back.

I feel so hopeless! I've lodged a complaint to fairtrading - they said samsung will refund within 7 business days (this of course did not happened) then I emailed fair trading back and they said nothing they can do, advise me to proceed with tribunal.

What are my option in receiving the refund? I purchased the phone via afterpay which is linked to my credit card for payment. (I have lodged dispute on both platform afterpay and credit card recently - any one has experience with chargeback for afterpay?)

Any advice is appreciated, thank you all!

    • Thank you, I have lodged with both - NOTE - Samsung informed Fairtrading they will refund within 7 business days but they never did hence the below comment from fair trading:

We cannot make anyone speak to us and we cannot enforce an outcome - only a court or tribunal has this power. If our involvement does not resolve the issue, we will provide information on how you can take your complaint further by applying to a court or tribunal, such as the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT), or by obtaining your own independent legal advice.

      We have provided an outcome to your complaint made with Fair Trading, which concludes the dispute resolution service offered to you.

      Sigh, feeling so helpless!

        you should wait for CC chargeback result

  • Another day another post with buying through Samsung direct and having major issues, I don't think there's much else you can do at this stage

    Had a similar shitty experience with Samsung during their last trade in. I sent my phone in and they charged a holding deposit for $500 till they could assess my phone. For 2 months they kept saying my old phone is being assessed and then out of nowhere they claimed that I sent them an empty box and were gonna charge me a non return fee and get banned from doing tradeins.

    Had to resort to a charge back and a week later they sent me an email saying it looks like the package had been tampered with and they will be refunding the holding deposit.

    I doubt I'll ever buy a Samsung again after this experience. Great phone but terrible customer service.

    When i had to talk to Afterpay about a refund they did not care at all, said there was nothing they could do and even threatened me with cancelling my account if i did a chargeback via CC. They have no process whatsoever

    "You chargeback will be against us and not them and we will restrict your account" was their exact words. I did it anyway!
