IKEA Idasen Electric Sit Stand Desk, Can You Buy The Frame Only Instore?

Anyone bought one without the table top option, I would like to buy frame only.
Hopefully at reduced price as well of course because less parts.. if you remember how much it was, currently the 1600mm model is $949 with the top on it.

They are kind of closed now, will try call them during day, but appreciate your responses anyway if you have experience.

Cheers!

  • Never mind!

Used google to see if someone else made comments, instead I find the link to australian price/item on their site for $790 frame only lol

Not sure why it didnt come up in a search from their site for me, which I have tried before posting here. yaarrrr

  • If price is a factor, have you looked at the Bekant? I have been looking at both online and in store. The Idasen seems very slightly more stable with back to forth movement (at all heights). But the store display Idasen was obviously more wobbly side to side. Both seemed fine for normal typing. The bekant looks nicer (IMO). Other than that, in terms of operation they seemed similar. And they do say they have 10 year guarantee, which is leading me to the bekant given the price difference.

    • Thanks for writing in, I really want sturdy and the idasen seems to fit the bill for a 2 leg table with Linak columns. Well according to all my research online anyways.

The reason for wanting just the frame is because I would like a solid desk surface, despite reducing the lifting weight, definitely would be better.

I really don't know why there isnt some more sturdy 4 legged options. Don't necessarily need the weight carrying capacity, more a solid wobble free experience would be nice.

      • Yes the Isaden does seem the higher quality option based on reviews online. But ikea say they fixed issues with the Bekant that were resulting in poor reliability (and a lot of the negative reviews).

The Isaden top looks cheap in person. At least the black top I saw with the fake woodgrain particleboard.

I don't think wobble will be an issue. I needed to clunk hard with my pretend typing to get either to wobble. Many comments about wobble are due to being on carpet - which I am not doing.

        • Did not know about the updated potential fixes to Bekant. I'm hoping to make it out today to IKEA and test it out, with a view of walking out with one.

I'm slightly biased towards the idasen at this point but I'm not that stubborn, will take a look at both.

I guess the typing alone should be fine on either. It's the potential minor bumps into it while standing or kicking the leg or whatever weird but not impossible scenario comes up. I'd like to keep the monitor from shaking around as best as possible 👍
