New Blender for the wife

Hi All

As the subject suggests, I'm after a new blender for the wife's birthday. It needs to be powerful enough to crush anything I put into it (ice, fruit etc) and fairly reliable. I've had a bog standard s/steel Breville but find it starts to smell a bit burnt after a bit of use - something that transfer into the taste of the smoothies (or the like).

I dont want to spend a fortune, and dont need to it bake, whisk, cook etc etc, any suggestions?

Cheers!

  • vitamix or you can get cheaper versions on ebay.
do mostly the same thing but not as good as the real thing per reviews!

personally I'm planning to get it in the US when i go over for holidays.
cause buying 2 of them in Oz would petty much pay for the cost of the ticket!

    • Wouldn't you need a massive step down transformer for this? I learnt it the hard way after blowing up a Dyson that I bought from the US.

I'd buy the Omniblend or the Magic Bullet if the OP is on a budget. If not, there's no comparison for Vitamix and Blendtec.

  • No way of importing from USA or Europe?

    • postage is over $100 and if using a forwarder would cost more and also no warrenty if DOA (as in way to much to post back). as i plan to try it when in the country!

probably what she wants, one would hope!
I love to bake and stuff, so wouldn't mind certain household things!

  • Umm, she asked for it….? She likes making her own juices and smoothies. It's not like I'm buying her a kettle!
