Samsung Smart Door Locks

Hi,

Does anyone have feedback on Samsung smart door locks and where would be the best place to try and get a discounted one? I might need to hang out for a discount on Bunnings gift cards from what I've seen.

I'm mostly interested in the SHP-DH538 due to its price point, but could be convinced to go for one of the newer/more expensive models if it's worth it

Thanks in advance!

  • nice security,
touchpad is cracking under the Oz sun

    • Good to know, thanks.

  • Sure if it's for a new door, but for a retrofit there are many cheaper andl likely more door-compatible options

    • It will be on a new build, so we have control over the door and installation.

      • Which smart home ecosystem are you going with: Apple HomeKit, Google or Amazon Alexa? This might help you decide if Samsung is the best option. Also, you're easily able to get power to your door which will allow a mains-powered doorbell/camera

        • I'm running Alexa and Google, but Alexa is slowly getting phased out at my place.

  • I have a SHP-DR708. It's awesome. Installation was note the cheapest from memory, the guy spent ages putting it on though so makes sense.

No cracking on mine, but its also under cover.

    • Was it installed by a specialist, or is it something that any locksmith/builder can do?

  • Remember: Anything with a mechanical cylinder is more of a joke:
A $30 lishi tool gets you in in seconds with no noise at all.
Endless youtubes give you full details.

    • Why spend $30 per lock type that you might run into, when a $15 pair of mole grips will get you through almost any door? Mighty courteous of the thief to open your door with non-destructive picking before they rob you

      • Some people have vested interest to break in without trace to collect paperwork etc. My Samsung lock has NO keyway and no Wifi, no Bluetooth, no fingerprint. But its rfid system has an extra security layer. Sadly Samsung Phones can't be used.
I would buy the one that is Schlage branded at Bunnings.

        • what model is your Samsung lock that you described?

  • I’ve got the a30 and it’s great

No more lock outs, it lets me know when the kids have entered, can assign short term PIN to guests, highly recommend

No cracking on mine either but it is undercover

Plus I’ve been keeping an eye out and am yet to see it on lock picking lawyer 😬

  • I have yale smart lock. similar price and can recommend.

    • And Yale will be releasing a Matter smart module, making the Assure Lock® 2 a future-proof option

    • Can I ask which one you have? I'm after an all in one with deadbolt and handle/latch.

      • yale unity entrance lock

  • I have two DP609, installed around December. Both are in shaded areas. The fingerprint reader sometimes struggles with my print, but works on first go about 75% of the time. After three failures, I usually use my master PIN to avoid a timed lockout (did it once and was stuck outside for a solid 15 minutes or so since I didn't have my phone on me to initiate an unlock via that).

I like the randomizer, and the limited time PIN codes.

Thing that does annoy me though, is that I can only seem to get one of them to show up at a time on google home when I link the app with it.

      Yeah me too

I’ve got 2 locks but only one will work with Google home at a time
