Is "Halliday Capsule Coffee Machine & Frother" for $148 at COTD a good bargain?

Hi. COTD is currently selling the coffee machine for $145.

Do you think this is a decent machine?

Is there a better bargain to be had on a coffee machine?

  • In that price range, I would buy the Aldi Nespressi coffee machine for $79 and the Aldi Nespressi milk frother for $25.

    1) Works out ~$45 cheaper
    2) At least you can exchange/return the machine to a physical store
    3) You can buy Aldi pods from Aldi stores everywhere (I have never seen Halliday pods, and different brands have different size pods).

Good luck. I personally love my Campos Cappa's while at work, and my Aldi machine on weekends! :)

    • Thanks Daewoo. I'll have a look at the Aldi's machine :)

    • I second that — like this, the Aldi machine is a bit plasticy, but solidly made with metal moving parts and very economical, it also represents better value over the life of the machine.
Aldi has obviously copied the name from Nestle, but the two are not compatible.
This 'Halliday' machine works only with Nescafe's 'Nespresso' coffee pods, which are a lot more expensive than other pods (although the taste / quality is no better). The Aldi pods are available at the front of any Aldi store, whilst the Nespresso pods are only available from Nestle or their handful of stores. If you look on ebay there are a range of other sizes of Nespresso pods, but only one type will work on the machines sold in Australia, which is the small shot-sized pods.
