Deals Direct Ripoff

I joined Deals Direct recently and took advantage of the 30% off sale yesterday to buy QS sheets at $75 a set, plus postage.

Very next day, today, same sheets, $49 a set. What a disappointment!
Is this a regular problem with Deals Direct?
It won't happen again though, as I will never deal with DD again.

I'd definetely be contacted fair trading about that.

False advertising is a big part of advertisement. It is also very serious; contact DD first and tell them you're more than happy to take this further if they don't refund the difference.

Than open a complaint with Fair Trading, It's free.

How on earth is that false advertising. What's your argument.

cavvygreen: Bohoo. Your honour DD were involved in false advertising. Yesterday they held a wonderful 30%
off promo. I found some sheets i loved which i found to be good value. I got them. Today they
came up with a better promo saving me a further $10. Instead of being happy with yesterdays
promo i decided to complaint about todays. I thought the sheets were of good value yesterday
but today i decide to cry about it.

Judge: What makes you believe they falsely advertise?

      cavvygreen: Moots said they did.

      ( Rack: bahahaha)

  • How is that ripoff. It would be ripoff if you can find the same sheets as a much lower price elsewhere. It's just a different promotion. No one twisted your arms to get it. Ask them to cancel your order and buy them today.

When buying online, one has to be smart. I got a dyson from DD last promo and this promo i got a kids furniture. Saved heaps.

    • Did you read what he wrote? Yesterday DD had a 30% off promotion, he paid $75 for the sheets. Today, the same sheets with no promotion is $26 less than yesterday.

Which bit do you not understand?

      • yesterday was 30% off….. today is 50% off…. perhaps they didn't sell enough yesterday….

      • What part of my comment did you not understand. I said "it's just a different promotion". Yesterday they had 30% off storewide. Today they have a 24 hour exclusive deal where the sheets are discount by $40 making the price $49.95.

The OP chose to buy these sheet using yesterdays 30% promo and didn't wait for today. Will you still be complaining if tomorrow they have a 50% off storewide and then all us Dyson buyers would be going " ripoff all the way to ACCC".

This is what i got in my email.

        Hurry, it's a 24hr sale
        and stocks are limited!

Promotions begin at 12:01pm 14/08/12 and end at 11:59am 15/08/12 AEST, unless stated differently in the listing and while stocks last.

nothing wrong with that - you win some you lose some. as andy said, went from 30% to 50%.

Department stores do the same thing - eg. 25% off storewide, but then after sale, some items go on even lower price.

If you were happy to buy at $75, good for you.
Think of the $30 odd dollars you saved rather than the other $26 dollars you didn't.

    Was the $49 deal a 24-hour deal?

edit - see Rack answered my question - it is a 24 hour deal - which means you have even less reason to complain… sorry.

  • And OP please explain. You said you got the sheets at $75 each. I am assuming the $75 price is after the 30% discount.

The normal price for queen sheets on DD is $99.95. So at 30% off they should have been $70. And today these are priced at $59.95. It's the double sheets which are priced at $49.95.
