Best Mattress for $500-$1,000

Hey,
Moving out of home in a month and going to purchase a new bed as my one is like over 12 years old.

I'm just after some recommendations for good quality mattress brands around the $500-$1,000 mark. Probably looking at a Queen size.

What mattress do you have? do you like it? how much was it?

Cheers,

    Koala?

  • +1 for OzB favourite Zzz atelier. Bought a queen size 3-4 yrs ago and still going strong. Comes in a box, firm enough.

We bought a ZZZ Atelier as a spare mattress. I didn't mind it for the odd sleep but my wife hated it. The edges were so saggy from day 1 it wasn't funny. but it was also like $280 or something.

A bit out of budget but I've been really happy with our Sleep Republic mattress. I've tried a few box mattresses now and the Sleep republic was by far the best.

    • Thanks, will take a look, seems decently priced.

  • Emma mattresses are pretty good value, and currently on sale https://store.emma-sleep.com.au/sale/

I have an Eva, which is excellent and often on sale, but the Emma is very similar. There's an additional discount popup I believe on the website, if you wait long enough I believe https://eva.com.au/products/comfort-classic-mattress

    • Thank you, I had a look at Emma - I get confused by all the "Diamond Hybrid" "Zero Gravity" "Comfort Premium".

I will have to do some research, thanks

      • Don’t buy Emma. They advertise next day delivery on their site but they actually are having massive supply chain issues and can’t give you an ETA. See the product reviews here but sort by newest rather than just looking at the overall score: https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/emma-original-matt…

        • I don't really mind waiting a week or two if that's the only issue with it. The reviews don't look great though.

  • I bought a Koala in 2016/17 and it developed sags to the point where it was uncomfortable to sleep on unless you were in the exact spot. I reached out to support and they sent me a brand new mattress 5 years later.

However, it's just been over a year and I can already feel the sags developing again a few months ago. And no I'm not morbidly obese, I'm under 70kgs. Great customer service, meh mattresses.

We did buy a Zensleep Hybrid around Christmas so it's too early for a proper review but it seems good so far.

It took them 5 years to send you a new one? I've heard of a slow response but that's crazy.

      • Looool that's what i get for writing while sleep deprived. *contacted them after 5 years of purchase and they sent me a brand new one.

    • Thanks for the info about Koala, was considering them, but maybe not so much anymore. Can I ask which version of their mattress you purchased?

      • Just looked through my emails, the one I got in 2016 was the first version 2 layers (they only had 1 at the time) I'm pretty sure. And the one they sent me last year is the current 'koala mattress' the first option on their website

  • One that $3999 on 75% off sale.
