six+ numerical digit .xyz domains are $0.84 usd via www.namecheap.com (can have between six and nine numbers only)
Inflation bites! I was charged $0.85 USD per year at namecheap, which is an almost 1.2% increase on only two days.
Check what it will actually renew at 12 months from now. A $1 domain could renew at $45 every year after and you may still want to play around with your site, you may have even shared the URL with some people over the time and don't want to change the domain. IMO .com is king, and in Australia .com.au is queen, accept no substitutions. Though you can substitute .net if you really want.
And of course they aren't doing anything with it, like all the best domain names you can think of it's just being squatted on and displays nothing.
I don’t think you can go cheaper than free, right? Have a look at the .tk TLD. I have used it before but that was 10+ years ago.. seems to be still free.
