180

Want to subscribe to Disney+ for a year because you crave for Disney-related entertainment (I do recommend Only Murders in the Building), laugh in the face of inflation as cost of living is not an issue for you, and can't be bothered with VPN workarounds or it did not work for you? Here's a deal to at least reduce the cost of the Australian subscription by almost 11%.

Terms & Conditions

*Offer valid between 12:01am, 05 May 2023 (AEST) and 11.59pm, 31 May 2023 (AEST) (“Promotional Period”) for new or eligible returning Disney+ subscribers with no current active subscription who are Australian residents and 18 years of age or older.
If you are an eligible subscriber, you will receive from ShopBack $15 (AUD) if you purchased an annual subscription. ShopBack will credit your ShopBack account within 75 business days of the activation of your Disney+ subscription.

Cashback on each offer may only be earned once per eligible ShopBack member and/or eligible subscriber, and you acknowledge and agree that any attempts to redeem this offer more than once, will be ineligible and the offer will not be applied to any subsequent attempts. Offer valid on first year of an annual subscription only and will be ineligible upon subsequent renewals of your Disney+ subscription, or on cancelled, amended, or refunded transactions. Payment for a new Disney+ subscription must be made on or before the Promotional Period expiration date to be eligible for the ShopBack promotion. In-app purchases via Google and Apple purchases are ineligible for these cashback offers.

To subscribe to Disney+ and create a new Disney+ account, you must provide valid payment details (credit card or PayPal account) to facilitate the renewal payment after the initial annual Disney+ subscription expires. Acceptance of the Disney+ Subscriber Agreement, Disney+ Privacy Policy, and Disney+ Collection Statement is also required to subscribe to, access and use the Disney+ streaming service.

If you sign up to a new annual Disney+ subscription, after your first initial year, your Disney+ subscription will continue to be automatically renewed for ongoing annual periods from the next billing date at the then-current annual retail price (currently $139.99 AUD (Incl. GST)/ year) unless cancelled prior to renewal.

When streaming in Australia on mobile devices or download via 3G/4G/5G, data charges may apply. A supported device connected to the internet in Australia is required to access Disney+. Had Disney+ for a year, almost never used it, cancelled the subscription last month.
Wife only watch Kdramas on Netflix, 2 kids (9 & 11) said there are no good movies there.
I myself don't watch tv much but all I hear is too many woke movies in Disney.
Only left with Netflix and Prime now.

    • +1

It's worth it to me solely to have Simpsons on almost 24/7 in the background while I do other stuff

      • +2

Are you one of my kids?

    • +5

but all I hear is too many woke movies in Disney

      From Skynews?

      • +1

Basically everyone says their stuff is woke. U can also just watch their latest movies to find out for yourself

        • -2

Basically everyone on Sky News After Dark says their stuff is woke

          FTFY

So The Simpsons, King Of The Hill Family Guys, Star Wars, Marvels movies, Deadpool, Borat, etc are all woke?

Are you telling me that a streaming service that run this content this is "woke"?
          https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iQHUpiDnqDY

"Woke" is just a word used by ignorant extremist to explain things they don't like/agree with.

          • @M00Cow: No, people who reference 'woke' are talking about their new content. There's clearly an intent by Disney to push an agenda, like it or not. What would you call it? Or do you deny they have a political agenda?
Plus, if you think everyone unhappy with Disney are just the SkyNews regulars as it seems you infer, look at Rotten Tomatoes, audiences are crucifying a lot of Disney's new stuff. Especially most recently.
It's like sport, people want their entertainment free from political nonsense. There's enough of it inescapable within daily life.

            • -6

@R00D: Nope they're just the views of right wing elitists who are just trying to stop anything they don't agree with.

It's funny they cry freedom, but then try ban anything they don't agree with. Without even thinking or even looking into stuff themselves, their cheer squad just regurgitate the often non-factual claims (well propaganda actually) bandied about.

Feel free to name every movie released on Disney+ that is so called woke.

Disney has always been more family entertainment focused. Despite what many conservatives like think, the definition of a family has changed, as has most people's attitudes.

              • +1

@M00Cow: Who's trying to ban anything? That's the other side of the spectrum who does that today.

Just the views of right wing elitists? Look at the amount of thumbs down 1.9m (compared to up 313k) The Little Mermaid trailers are getting on YouTube, a progressive platform more so. Again, that's a LOT of right wing elitists. That film will tank too. You'll be proven wrong again when people don't turn up to see it, projections are very poor.

The problem with idealogues like yourself is you think anyone who doesn't agree with you is taking the opposite political 'side'. No, we just want good content and to not see great old stories ruined. Watch them keep destroying Star Wars too, a new Rey movie with a female director who is openly an activist that 'loves to make men uncomfortable'… No one cares other than the woke mob, just give us films without your politics.

    • You’d be surprised Re kdramas on Disney now. They are pushing fairly strongly to break through the market against Netflix obviously drawrfed by nf at this stage but recently watched big bet, first responders and doctor lawyer - I guarantee you you will enjoy them!

    • It’s got a surprisingly wide range of content, not just Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and woke movies. The cost is a bit too high now for my usage though, creeping up to Netflix level (for ad-free FHD/UHD), so I don’t plan to renew.

Less than a couple of months left in my sub and I only recently realised The Americans is available now, so will have to binge 75 eps at the same time as making the most of my free Apple TV+ trial. Good thing it’s getting cold out now.

Wild how the sensitive right can't even watch The Little Mermaid without being triggered anymore.

      The world's gone mad!

      • +1

Not true I'm afraid. I don't think new The Little Mermaid film isn't out yet but Peter Pan and Wendy is. It's followed the same political / progressive formula on a remake..
        https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/peter_pan_and_wendy
        Check the audience score. Crucified.
That's a lot of 'sensitive right' people isn't it? Watch The Little Mermaid suffer the same. I think Disney knows that without the existing proven brand names they have to work with, new politically driven content would fail even worse. It's not about being triggered, it's about not wanting content with such an intent to be politically spun… It's getting tired. Disney will continue failing and will need to change. Look what Super Mario and Top Gun did for an example of not being so focused on conforming to PC.

        • Check the audience score. Crucified.
That's a lot of 'sensitive right' people isn't it?

Yep it is. Well to be fair, it's probably not a lot of people who have actually watched it. Or people at all. Have you seen it? I bet not. If they were as bad as many including yourself is making out, why have they left the original version available on their streaming service? Surely if they were driven by this 'woke agenda' they'd would have removed it?

Choice is a wonderful thing. If you like a show/movie watch it. If you don't, then don't watch it.

          • @M00Cow: I didn't get through it but tried, atrocious. The old Disney stuff has a disclaimer about them not supporting values or them not being in line with modern society or some rubbish. They want money, they want to inject their politics too. Without the original content Disney+ wouldn't exist.

Is this deal taking the Mickey?

  • +3

New customers only? I'm a big fan of loyal customers getting nothing. Really makes me want to keep subscribing. /s

  • It says "New or eligible returning customer". I'm a bit confused if I could be eligible for this or not. I'm currently on a monthly subscription via Google Play that renews on May 18. If I cancel it and take this deal between May 18 and May 31, would I be considered an eligible returning customer?

Citizens of Turkey do it better

  • +2

Or you can just go to Auspost and buy a $119 annual gift card. I believe all GCs have 3 year expiry. My PO still has like 10 of them

    • what state are you in? I'd love to buy one of the annual subs for $119 but not sure if any auspost in WA will have stock left
