I am getting married in October 2023 and I want to keep the Décor cheap by going the do it yourself option. We are hiring a hotel conference room and food, drinks, and tables and chairs will be provided. However, we are responsible for all décor. Currently, we are sourcing stuff for Aliexpress.
Does anyone have any ideas of cheap options and websites to recommend? Does anyone have any tips in during your own decoring. E.g. using fake flowers for decor

Kmart is a decent local option in case you need anything last minute.
A lot of staging companies use Kmart for their purchases.
For example, fake flowers are decent at Kmart and already bunched.
They also do name plates and other decorating things like vines etc. in their "arts and crafts" section.
i would actually look into staging companies as well as a decorating option

A photo of the conference room, tables and chairs included would be helpful. Some things will and won't work in different spaces.
Do you need table cloths/chair covers?
Depends on the overall quality of the wedding. Will plastic tablecloths bring down the whole feel of it, vs fabric?

A friend of mine is doing this at the moment and she said there are loads of things available on Facebook either marketplace or buy/swap/sell groups.

for my wedding my wife purchased all the flowers herself from the flower markets (for Sydney in Homebush). she then had a flower arranging day with her friends and enjoyed it a lot. ended up costing considerably cheaper than getting a florist or company to do it all.
keep in mind arranging flowers is something she loves doing.

Don’t waste money on stuff you will never re-use. Be careful with fake flowers. Generally the rule is, if you can touch it, it needs to be real. If they were hanging from a roof up high maybe you could get away with it.
Honestly if it was me I’d just go with some beautiful table arrangements done by a respectable florist and a few large urns on pedestals.
My wife and I used fake flowers for decorations. Nobody knew the difference until we told them and everyone quite liked them. We gave away the flowers and stands as gifts to those that asked since we wouldn't use them again.
Tea candles can be pretty cheap and the cheap glass holders can be found on aliexpress.
Decent and inexpensive chair covers and ribbons as well.
Unfortunately, don't have any websites to suggest since we bought them while overseas but I'd imagine most of the places we went also had aliexpress stores.
