    Summer = beach
    Any other weather = hiking

    • what if it's snowing during summer?

      • Ok let me rephrase

        If >= 26° beach
        If > 23° and <26° hiking followed by beach
        If > 5° and < 23° then hiking
        else too cold, stay inside

    soft or hard tacos
    why not have both?
    hike mountains to a beach to do water sports?

    hawaii has that

    • Here in Australia we are lucky to enjoy hikes near beaches almost everywhere.

      Some beaches even are not accessible by cars and requires a hike to reach.

  • Mountains, no hiking.
    Beach, no sand.

    This is a very interesting question.

    I have lived in Perth most of my life.

    The beaches are lovely and the family have grown to love the beach / water as we live close by.

    However I just came back from the Canadian Rockies.

    The mountains are absolutely incredible. Even moderate hiking trails reveal incredible vistas. A well travelled friend once told me Perth was ugly as it was flat, I didn't think much of that comment until I saw the Rockies.

    This is a difficult question which I ponder in my sleep.

      The Canadian Rockies and Southwest USA (Grand Canyon, Zion etc) have absolutely ruined Australian hikes for me.
      Some of the best Aussie tracks around are pitiful in comparison (excluding Tassie).

      Lesson learnt: if you enjoy Mountains and hiking/ bush walking in Australia, do not go overseas as everything here will disappoint in comparison.

  • Hiking for me, always prefer to go inland on road trips rather than to coastal areas.

  • Why not both? Deep water soloing.

  • Just watched this Australian Crawl music video from the 80s set at the Gold Coast - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpxgn01rwjE
    It shows how magic the place once was without all the horrendous 50 storey sky scrapers as we have now that shade the beach in the arvo. The surf was better too.
    They used to have water slides right opposite the beach too.

    • "I would give everything just to be like him"
      .

  • Both for me. My new dating match prefers to walk around the beach. All good 🙂

  • Fresh water sports. It's just much nicer and also friendlier on boat motors and equipment.

  • I don't know about hiking, but in winter it is nice to spend time in a heated cabin reading a book and drinking hot chocolate.

  • PORKY NO LOS DOS
    Find an area where you can do both?
