Looking to Buy a Top End Liquid Cooled 4090 Gaming PC - Need Suggestions

Hi All,

I am planning to get a new desktop gaming PC after long time. My main requirements are,

RTX4090
Intel i9 13900K/KF
64 gigs of DDR5 RAM
top end z790 mobo
PC to be fully custom looped (distro maybe)

Any one built a recent one and how much it cost? Any trusted PC builders you recommend?

Cheers,
VJ

    $7000 probably more

with none of your custom watercooling.

And could get 99% the performance for "gaming" at half the price and heat generation ;)

    • Why is the aio at $653

      • OP seemed to want to spare no expense on their flex PC. I was trying to simulate the massive expense in custom loops

  • Thanks, any idea on how much the water cooling would be?

With the block for the card… 1500+

If you can't be bothered to build the PC yourself then i'd suggest not wasting your money getting someone else to custom loop it as you will have to continue paying someone else to maintain the thing everytime it needs needs a flush, cleaning and new coolant which is about 12 months.

having used ekwb blocks on a few cards, id opt for the 4090 frostbite, it just saves the (profanity) around and the cost of the block (which are stupid high for this generation)

also they now have a pump/block combo for the cpu cooler to save some space/fittings

    • Did you use the card? I am bit concerned on aftersales support for the inno3D brand…

  • Why do you want it water cooled?

    • Just to keep the temps low, clean build, use to OC….

I know I'm not answering your question, but I don't think its worth going for the tippy top spec of gaming PC's such as 4090 & i9 13900 when they are going to cost you approximately $7k. The diminishing returns are significant. If you want to spend the money, you are better off buying a 2nd from best PC, saving around 50%, then buying next gen parts as they become available that are worth it over the next 2 year cycle. Or even sell after 2 years and buy 2nd best again with your remaining 50% +sale. You will have less buyers remorse as you watch the 50XX series gpu's and next gen CPU's blow your system out of the water with less than top tier parts that cost half as much as your top spec build.

I also wouldn't recommend a full loop build but rather optimise some good air flow. Less prone to catastrophic failure, easier to maintain and add/swap parts as you go.

I did a full custom loop on my previous build. I’ve done them before and I am moderately experienced but I’d recommend you do it yourself and you’ll learn a lot. Plus it’s quite rewarding.

    Here is my build

I don’t recommend anything above a 13700K/KF for gaming even with a 4090. As others have said very diminishing returns. That extra 3-5 fps will cost you $100 per frame. Most Z boards will be fine too. Something like a Gigabyte Aorus or Asus Strix will be plenty enough for an OC. 64GB of RAM may be overkill as well. Go for 2x16GB and if it has any effect then sure, down the track double it to 32GB

I have twin 360mm radiators each with 3 x Noctua industrials, an EKWB Distro/Pump Plate combo (specifically made for Lian Li cases) GPU and CPU block from EKWB and went with some of the nicer looking fittings. All up the Water Cooling components as well as needing to buy the parts to bend, pressure test, etc was over $1,500 on top of the parts. You can buy pre-bent tubes which have 90 degree angles as well to save time and perhaps money but you end up wasting a lot of the plastic (which is generally the cheapest part of the loop anyway - 2m or so will set you back $25 or so, meaning f ups are cheap to fix).

If you’re a bit worried about hardline tubing, EKWB make a soft tube in a black which I used in my very first build and still utilises the fittings to get a very nice finish albeit more subtle. You can almost make most of the piping sit straight and flush and leaks are much less likely. Though even on the two hardline builds I have done I’ve never had any issues with a leak.

    • Looks fantastic! Can you pls send the parts list?

Sure! I’ll do it when I get home from work. Also I said previous build but I meant the last build I did which is my current PC :)
