Boost Mobile- Will No Longer Allowing Recharges via Prepaid SIM's

It appears that the fun may be coming to an end. I recieved the following message from one of their support agents after trying to 'port out - port in' recharge method.

I can process this now as a one time courtesy and need to asked for an approval, but to set your expectation that we can no longer do this moving forward. You must make sure to recharge your service through the app or online or purchase a recharge voucher, is that okay? We already got a notice from the management that we need to follow the correct process for sim activation and recharge process. We don't need to port the number for when we say port request it is a transfer of number form another provider to Boost and not form Boost to Boost.

They did it as a "once off courtesy" but I assume this will end.

Thoughts? I am planning on moving anyway as the benefits of telstra network arent as evident in metro areas.

I was told the same. That it was no longer possible to do it via chat. They told me to activate the sim with a new number, then call to cancel existing boost number and change it to new sim. I have not done this yet, so can't say if it really works or not.

You may have had a bad rep. Depends who you get and may be worth jumping in an icognito tab find someone willing to do it

      • I tried it twice and had the same problem. Trying it a third time now, it seems they are going to do it.

Its a one time courtesy that works everytime

  • I tried to do this exact thing, with 2 reps last week and they refused to help, so I've gone elsewhere now.
They are definitely clamping down on it.

    • Where did you go to?

      • Catch Connect for now.

Meh, it's so easy to port out and in for a month (or even less)

Port out and in for a month

      Or a day

Yep just completed this today. Ported out to Aldi, next day ported back to Boost, same number.

        • What's the cheapest aldi sim to just port out? Online all I could see was $10 plan.

  • Late to the party, but I’ve noticed Woolworths do some good prepaid sim deals. 12 months with boost, wait for a good Woolies sim deal, then port to Woolies. Rinse and repeat.
