  • Why does is say Woolworths? Typo?

    • +1

It was an attempt to hint at the upcoming Woolworths promotion but I can see how it might be confusing so I have removed it.

      • What's the upcoming Woolworths promotion ?

        • +3

20x points on three gift cards but if you want to know which ones you’ll have to wait until 5pm Monday per OzBargain policy.

  • +2

Ah okay, so it's a 10% discount redeemed as Flybuys points.

    • +4

      Sort of.

If you redeem your Flybuys points for an instant discount at Coles or Flybuys Dollars, the conversion rate 2000 points = $10 would be used, and therefore you are having 10% of the gift card’s value returned to you in the form of Flybuys points.

However, if you redeem your points in other ways, you could argue you are not getting 10% of the gift card’s value returned to you. For example:

    • Can we use these gift cards to buy Apple devices or is it only available to be used in the iPhone app store?

      • +1

You can use Apple gift cards to purchase:

        • Content, apps, and services from Apple Media Services, and

        • Items from Apple Retail Stores, Apple online stores, and the Apple Store App (including iPhones, iPads and Macs).

        • +1

Thanks.. good to know that you can buy Apple devices. This looks like the only way to get a discount on Apple products.

          • +1

@dealman: There are additional ways you can save further on Apple devices, including:

            • Apple Education Store (I doubt Apple is actually checking eligibility to access this portal).

            • Apple On Campus Education Store (which is only offered by selected education-related organisations, but I am not sure whether Apple is actually checking eligibility to access this portal).

            • Apple EPP portals (which can you can only really access through a participating employer).

            • Cashback via a cashback website (e.g. Cashrewards).

All listed above allow you to use Apple gift cards as a payment method, so you can stack the savings…

Alternatively, you could purchase discounted gift cards and redeem them at an Apple Authorised Reseller. Examples that come to mind include:

            • Using Ultimate gift cards at JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks or The Good Guys

            • Using TCN gift cards at JB Hi-Fi or The Good Guys

            • Using JB Hi-Fi gift cards purchased through a discounted gift card portal

  • what do people redeem these for is it just Apple products and apps only? any other uses?

    • +8

      Pay scammers

    • +3
      • Apple TV subscription
      • additional iCloud storage subscription
      • occasional App Store app.

I’m probably doing it wrong (no vpn)

    • +2

To pay for products at Apple Retail/Online Store that's usually not discounted (and definitely not discounted especially for things like CTO machines).

Combined with education or EPP discounts it can sometimes be cheaper than other retailer, plus you can take advantage of things like free laser engraving.

    • +1

You can also use these to pay for Apple repairs/services. Just had my battery replaced in my MacBook Pro and stacked the Coles Mastercard Gift Cards into an Apple Gift Cards discount to knock about ~16% off the cost of the replacement service.

Most OZB'ers should have stocked up from this real deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/762500 - time to handover your badge if not…

    • ahhh good times :)

  • I don't know whether it still works, but you used to be able to stack this with 10% cashback on Liquorland at CommBank by buying a $100 Coles GC at LL, then using that GC to buy a $100 Apple GC.

    • Doesn't work anymore :(

      • You can join the mourners here (and it was only a recent change).

  • So max is 5x$500 to get 50k points?

    • Correct. If you need more than five gift cards you'll have to use another Flybuys account.

  • Apologies if already asked but can I use flybuys dollar to purchase this?

    • +2

Last time I checked, you cannot use Flybuys Dollars as a payment method for any gift cards at Coles. You should get an Invalid Product Mix error on the EFTPOS terminal as soon as you swipe the Flybuys card (which is the same error you trigger if you try and use a Coles gift card to pay for any gift cards).

If you live in a part of Australia where you can instantly redeem 2000 Flybuys points for a $10 discount, I am not sure whether that prompt will appear when purchasing an Apple gift card at Coles.

If you have a Coles Financial Services product tied to your Flybuys account, you should get a prompt asking whether you would like to redeem 2000 Flybuys points for a $10 discount when purchasing an Apple gift card (and that is different to the prompt in the paragraph above).

      • Do you know when the Instant $10 feature was launched? I'm guessing it's only been rolled out in the non East Coast states as a trial before hopefully being expanded nationally.

I just had a read through of how it works and all the FAQs and it seems like a copy of the 2000 EDR points = $10 redemption at Woolworths offer but crippled in function since you can only redeem a maximum of $10 in a transaction. And only one transaction per calendar day.

        • +1

I saw signage at Coles about this feature in late March, but this was at a Coles that is currently excluded from this feature, so my guess is that the signage was sent to the wrong Coles store and the feature was being rolled out at this time? Having said that, I only became aware of this feature actually working last week.

It is probably a good thing it is a crippled version of Everyday Rewards Dollars’ redemption system, because it means the ability of someone to fraudulently redeem your Flybuys points is also crippled.

        • It's been available with the Coles MasterCard for many years now. You can also get it as many times in a day as you want until your points are gone.

I hate these apple gift card deals they run too often

  • If I have activated a triple flybuys bonus on my card, can I get those bonus points as long as the total isn’t over 50,000 points?

    • No.

The fine print for the 3x points offer on your Flybuys account will say:

Points awarded after savings, discounts and vouchers (excludes all gift cards, iTunes cards, charity items/donations, tobacco and tobacco related products, Coles Best Buys online exclusive products and online delivery fees)

I also have not been able to get a general bonus points offer on my Flybuys account to be triggered by the purchase of any gift cards at Coles over the past few years of trying.

Additionally, the points cap is in this deal is only in relation to the bonus points you can earn from the 20x points offer outlined in this deal. If you were able to get your 3x points to be triggered by the purchase of an Apple gift card, the points you earn through it would not count towards the 50,000 points cap mentioned in this deal.

    • I have an AMEX Platinum Edge card that gets me 2x times points on groceries. I can stack that with this promo and get a great value.

  • Just checking is this still valid i.e: until midnight 23/05/23
Was going to hang out for another everyday rewards promo but might bite the bullet and save the 10% to get a purchase in before EOFY.

    • Still valid tomorrow, yes.
