RenderMan costs $595 USD, so if you made a movie with the free version and wanted to release the movie you'd need to pay that. Updates cost $250 USD per year. At least I think I'm understanding the pricing right https://renderman.pixar.com/general-faq

      • You pay the licensing fee if you use it to make a movie for profit purposes is my understanding as per the pricing FAQ

  • I can’t see anywhere that says it’s free for personal use. Just a “Try” link for non-commercial use. Their web page does say specifically that it’s free for educators and students though.

What is mean is “try” is seems to imply a trial period. Whereas the wording for education is that it’s “free”.

Not a deal, has been free for non-commercial use for many years.

In 2015, a free non-commercial version of RenderMan became available.

  • Long running for non commercial use?
