How to Successfully Redeem Yum for TheFork?

I have 1100YUMS and this is doing my head in.
Because of some bad experience with Groupon and EatClub last month, this time I want to make sure I learn all the ropes before I sit down.

From the FAQ there should be a Code for me to enter while booking for the Restaurant. However cant see anything there.
When I tried to book, the field for Code seems to be for Booking, not Redeeming.

Then I went to My Account, found my points, and click on "Spend my Yum", and it gave me all the NSW restaurants.
In my search field I have stated I am from Brisbane!

Another page reckons I just rock-up to the Restaurant and they will deduct it from my Bill…..

Hope someone can share their experience, especially good if you are from Brisbane.

Thank you and looking forward!

You need to highlight all restaurants in Brisbane that 'accepts yum'
Click through to book a time that you can use yums.

    • This

You'll also need to mention it at the restaurant. Some are better than others at redeeming them

I hate the awks conversation at the end when I tell meat and wine co to remove $50 off my bill.

        • Yep, or pubs with qr codes that then need to manually do the order

    • Thanks, can you please explain "book a time that you can use yums."?
So there isnt a way I can tell the Restaurant (at booking time) that I am using YUMS?

Sounds like the Meat & Wine has happily obliged to you and apply $50 discount. What if they dont? We dont have any written confirmation on that.

I have a written contract confirmation that my yums booking is was accepted.
Usually sessions appear in yellow underline.
And then it has a statement about you are redeeming yums in the booking page.

    Brisbane Restaurants that accept YUMS

The problem is in the UI. You go to spend my Yums and it always defaults to Sydney. When you change the city to say Melbourne or Brisbane, it unselects "Accepting My Yums". It's a long time bug. Maybe we can report it somehow?

EDIT: OK, I was annoyed enough to report it. :)

    • Thank you!

I should have mentioned I didnt want to contact their Customer Service.
Did that once because they thought I can fly from Auchenflower to West End!

Also, the link only gives 5 restaurants in Brisbane. Surely there should be more?
It'd be good if we can insert a distance.

Hmm, somehoow I think they deliberately miss it….

        Nope, 5 sounds about right.

Source: I’m from Brisbane and have used my Yums at pretty much all the available options at this point

        • Oh wow, out of the 5, 3 are same brand but different locations.
Come on EatClub, please call all the Restaurants here!

      • Sydney only has around 28 restaurants that accept Yums. So 5 in Brisbane is probably correct.

I currently have 22,000 Yums ($550) and just lining up bookings with Meat and Wine Co. to redeem them before they expire.

Yum bookings are normally restricted to off-peak times like Monday - Thursday

Need to book through The Fork, pick a restaurant/date/time that accepts your yums and add it to your booking.

However recently (in Melbourne) there's hardly any restaurants that accepts yums. Hardly worth the effort to collect them, I've got 5000 yums that are supposedly worth $120 in discounts but no restaurants to redeem them.

    • Oh boy, that's not good, but makes me feel better now…. LOL
Perhaps they might look at the possibility you can transfer your YUMS to your virtual friends!

    • Staring at my (pathetic) points and wonder how have you been? Any luck?

  • Hi

I have 5000 yums and am saving them for when I am next in Europe as apparently they can be used over there and actually have more value.

That aside, in Melbourne one place that allows for the redemption of Yums is Juventino in Camberwell. Has anyone here redeemed their Yums there? Did the process go smoothly.

    cheers Peter

Yep, used it a couple months ago. They just took it off bill when paying.

      • Thanks - and do you have to book for a specific time of day to redeem the Yums?

        • +1

I think Juvento is available at most times. You can just check the website/app and it'll will show you which restaurants are available to use with Yums for date/time.

  • Oh well, March-2024 marks the demise of theFork. Sorry to those of you who have accumulated thousands of points. Hope you get to use them soon.

Meanwhile, it seems EatClub is doing well.
