Gas Stove Cover Recommendation

Are there any big stores that sell covers that you can place on top of gas stoves?

I don't use my gas stove much and to better take advantage of the rangehood, I thought I'd place the pressure cooker, tabletop oven and hotplate on top of the stove directly below the rangehood.

When I searched, all I saw were some items from Etsy.

    What's wrong with Etsy?

I bought a handmade wooden cover as a gift from a local Etsy seller & the craftsmanship was excellent.

    • never bought from there before. seemed a bit weird. might give it a try then. thanks

It's just a selling platform, much like eBay, only for handmade & you can filter by Australian sellers. I prefer to support Australian made and especially small businesses.

It all depends upon what you're exactly looking for and how much you want to spend.

    1. Get the dimensions of the stove top
    2. Approach a local men's shed and ask them to quote on making a real (Aussie species) timber top to suit. Or provide a sheet of suitable ply.
(You buy suitable length legs from Bunning's and attach to suit the stove height and placement of the (stubby) legs. Bunnings has legs starting at 75mm or 100mm long, in wood, plastic, metal.
    3. Treat the top however you want before use. (Oil clear lacquer etc)
(You may get away with just removing hobs and have no legs on the timber top, just have it rest on the top as long as it is stable.)
    • not sure about asking a men's shed but it sounds like an easier task when broken down. may give it a go. thanks!

      • They may do the whole thing. No harm in asking. Just make sure (however tou go-if using supports) the legs (if you use them) are positioned to avoid lumps and burners etc and result in a non-rocking support.
