Re the $229.90 14" pizza peel cooking set - probably different quality, but you can complete such set on Amazon for less than half of that price, eg.:

    $51.07 Perforated Pizza Peel, 12 x 14"
    $29.99 8" Pizza Turning Peel
    $24.55 Infrared Thermometer + probe

    • I wanted to go for the Ooni stuff to be more sure of quality, I hear getting started can be a bit difficult with the learning curve as it is so wanted the least obstacles possible.

my $15 aliexpress peels work a treat, got the big launching one and a turning peel

100% the ooni peel is just overpriced
I have that 12x14 perforated peel from aliexpress works well.
I have a Koda 16 and far from a pizza dough expert :)

Saving money just means more money for ingredients when you mess up :)

That pizza peel set is priced like buying paint protection from a car dealer :)

      • Go with the amazon ones, they are fine to learn with.

The reviews of the official perforated ones weren't exactly glowing.

      • true but read the tips and you should be fine, main things are making sure it's up to temp, don't put the pizza on without turning the gas down & turn the pizza regularly until cooked

      • wanted the least obstacles possible

My thinking is the other way round - I'd rather try whatever's there first, learn what I want/need and then buy it, of proper quality if necessary.

use to be even cheaper via aliexpress for the same things, but seems pricing's gone up.
That amazon one is not bad considering quicker than from aliexpress.

Each is about $10 cheaper via aliexpress, but quick delivery likely outweighs that

    • While I absolutely agree that Amazon/AliExpress accessories are fine, some of the bundles on sale offer excellent value. I just ordered a Koda bundle which worked out at only $30 more and included a peel and a rocker cutter.

  • I was just thinking about the Ooni Koda 16 last night a few months after I stopped watching for deals. Hmmmmm.

  • Is this the new lowest price with inflation.

Don't forget to get the cover for it as well to store it.

How would this one on amazon (https://amzn.asia/d/j3MzwNP) compare to one of these? I really like the idea of a pizza oven but cant justify the $500 plus price tag.

    • +4

Completely different product. Not comparable. These Ooni's make very good pizzas.

    • With the Ooni gas oven you can also cook steak, chargrilled chicken, fish, roasted vegie and more. If you don't want to spend that $$ you can look at HIZO G14 Gas Pizza Oven for $299 or they also have the electric version HIZO E12 Pizza Oven for $199.
PS: I have the Koda 16

    • These are an excellent product. I'm a massive fan. Can get incredible results with these little things. Very underated. They are quick to heat up, easy to pack away and so so so so much better than using a regular fan forced oven. Yep. They aren't an Ooni, but they are more practical and less fuss.

      • It's just that it won't be the same effect in the end.

From what I read over internets, incl. OzB, they are overrated, ie. the expectation is the pizza comes out like a Napolitan, thin and charred. Apparently you can't get that at 330 degrees in a crammed device. One of the ozbargainers said it's great for frozen pizza…

Disclaimer: I've never used one, because I never dared to spend money on it.

    • we got a cheap one of these some years back and it is great - as lenogo thankpad notes, super under-rated I reckon. Our homemade pizzas cook in 5 minutes with zero fuss.

  • Koda 12 and accessories to play with for $741.90

  • Got the oven yesterday and fired it up today. Pizza came out a real treat :)
