Ive got a friend (no really) who wants to coach tennis for himself and also provide hitting services.
Whats the best way to advertise his services? Cheaper the better.
He is currently using gumtree and fb marketplace which are both free.

There are often local Facebook “community noticeboard” groups or just general groups (“good karma”) for the area. Just check if the rules allow advertising businesses, as many don’t.
Advertise to people with dogs that fetch hit tennis balls
Tennis or assassination sounds like a strange combo for a business.
Try Nextdoor.com.au, its free. I had some success with somethng I posted on there, would also suggest A4 flyers to stick on wall at local shoppng centre or similar
