Yeah cheap. Bought mine at the beginning of April for ~$190. One of the best upgrades I did with my laptop.

      • What are the other "best" upgrades your laptop got?

        • I'd say he probably upgraded the RAM on it too, that's about all you can do with a laptop :P

      • Yeah actually not much can be done with the laptop. SSD. More RAM. A docking station so while working at home I can connect to 2 extra monitors (making it 3 in total).

  • dammit why not online with free shipping as well. Melbourne doesnt get much stuff =/

    • +20

That's rich, especially when reading this in WA where we don't get half the deals (Aldi etc.) And where shipping is ridiculous on the other half :-)

XD the grass is always greener on the other side

        • +2

no… it's greener it Melbourne. I live in Cairns and I can tell you now we have no major electrical store here and we've got a population of 180,000. I just don't get it, it seems everyone store I buy off the internet from is from Melbourne those guys get it good.

Yeah, but you have better weather in Carins :)

    Very nice deal, voted +.

Any chance you have any deal looming for the 330 model?

  • +2

Just so ppl know, there is noticeable speed differences between the 120GB and 180GB so If you are willing to pay extra the 180GB is good a performer

    • +2

Also, the larger the unused space (available for wear leveling) the longer the life of the SSD.

Just so people know that 180GB intel 330 SSD is faster then this 120GB 520 SSD :)

They use the same RAM.. same Chipset, same software but the intel 330 has a rev 2b board VS the 1a on the 520 SSD's.. so they reduce a memory channel and slap on a 3 year warranty..

but the 180gb 330 has more channels then the 120gb 520 .. so its faster

This site is not SYDBargain…. its Ozbargain.

      • -6

        This is post is PERBargain.

It looks to me that this deal got plenty of +votes despite only being available to "1% " of readers. I say let the votes decide which deals are worthy or not.

Lol perthians need more bargains that eastern staters do, several statistics show perth much more expensive than the other capital cities interms of living costs due to their two speed economy….therefore people with more financial stress would be visiting sites like these ie Perthians…so to say that only 1% of people viewing this site is from Perth is almost ignorant..

Basically what im getting at is, stop your whinging silly muppets…go to another site or make your own sydbargain and see how well it goes if your not happy with the bargains here.

    • Well said mate. These whingers are just sour grapes indeed!

People in WA are open to exploitation due to the remoteness. Thanks Netplus for stopping the other IT providers in WA from hammering prices up, and thanks to other people for understanding what actually is happening in WA :)

        • -2

Perth is up for exploitation due to the number of miners there with huge amounts of cash.

        • 2 miners didn't appreciate that comment.

  • Sorry, what does the bracket to? I just need a super quick SSD to copy all my photos (LOTS of photos in high resolutions), can I use this? My external HDD is bit slow now. Thanks!

    • +4

The bracket is just so you're able to mount the SSD inside the case like you would a 3.5" drive, I believe. Lots of people just use sticky tape or blue tack, so its not a crucial feature, just a matter of convenience.

Just so you know, though, an SSD's main benefit is as a boot drive, so that Windows as a whole runs much faster. If you're just going to use it as you would an external HDD, then its potential is largely lost. You would probably be better off with a higher capacity (esp. if using high res photos) USB3.0 drive, if that's the case. If I misunderstood, my apologies.

Thanks for the explaination. I am mainly after copying hd photos and hd videos. So maybe this isnt for me then……

The bracket holds a 2.5 inch drive in a 3.5 inch drive bay. Many new cases have dedicated bays for SSD's in which case you wouldn't need the bracket.
