I doubt a soundbar can create s 9.1.5 surround sound.
The 9 just means 9 horizontally firing speakers.
The .1 is a sub.
The .5 are for 5 upward-firing Atmos speakers.
In that sense, yes it can. I don't have this, but I have the q990b and it definitely circulates sound in a distinct and noticeable way with movies/games that support surround sound setups.
Also the soundbar's generally have satellites that are placed at the rear of the room. They're not "simulated" in that sense
Is this a better choice to pair with a C2 than a Samsung q990b as stated above, or are their advantages of LG and LG together? TIA
Honestly, just go the Samsung. It's pretty widely considered the best soundbar on the market before reaching the very expensive stuff.
Lg supposedly has some same-brand synergy but I'm yet to regret the q990b with my c2

I have a LG CX and this soundbar and there doesn't seem to be any same brand synergy. Most of the work is done by HDMI e-arc and CEC. Don't know if that would change with a newer model tv though.
I mean my C2 recently received an update and the notification bubble said something like "your TV now has expanded features when paired with LG soundbars!" Or something along those lines
Just curious, wouldn’t a q990b be a better choice for a similar price?
