Are they similar to fairy lights. i cant find any info on these would like to install them in the patio. any other insights would be much appreciated as well

  • Are they any good?

  • Any good for Xmas lights? Obviously won't be Twinkly standard.

It's controlled through WiFi. Flick it on and off reaaaally fast.

    • 8 functions:

      Twinkle and flashing

  • Grabbed a few packs

would it be enough as single source of light for patio. what do you guys reckon? $12 is no biggie however not keen to spend on some rubbish which would end up in the bin after a few uses.

    • That's what I'm getting them for..

      • +1

        to put in the bin?

I don't like these as other second time I switch them on, they start a random display, ie. not the mode they were left on, which in my case is always continous/solid light. So every other time you need to push the button through the modes.

If you use the app to set the mode you want it will stick. I had the same problem with their fairy lights, installed the app and set the pattern I wanted and it's stayed that way ever since (probably 9 months by now).

Terrible when they tie functionality to a app. My keyboard is like that too. If I dont use their app it forgets the lighting style when I reboot the computer and it defaults to a highly annoying strobe effect.

        • Yeah, exactly. I don't want to need to use the app every time I switch it, so it remembers the mode it's left on.

Instead of the convenience of being able to use the app in certain situations there's the inconvenience of having to use the app always here.

@pizzaguy: Sorry I obviously didn't explain myself properly, you only have to use the app once to set the mode you want. You can then switch the lights off and on as many times as you like and it will retain the setting. We've even unplugged the lights a few times and it still retains the setting. I haven't used the app since I set the mode originally.

@u u I agree completely, it's bullshit but welcome to the world of "there's a "crappy, insecure app collecting as much information as it can that will absolutely be leaked" app for that". Burner phones and accounts are your friend here, although not sure how that would work for a keyboard.

  • Still available..? Grabbed 2, thanks.

Ha-Ha. I had it in my shopping cart for 3 days and was hesitant to pull the trigger. And now it's sold out. Problem solved. Money saved :)

    • My thoughts too - I CBF finding a free OnePass solution either ;)

      • A some body account might do ;)
