Just popped into my local Sydney DM for Sailor Jerry (which was too expensive…) and saw Kraken 1L bottles for $63. Checked Liquorland, BWS and First Choice to see if they were price-matching, but they were all >$80. Even DM website has them as $77 for 1L…
No idea why it was so cheap, but don't look a giftKraken in the mouth.

    It's great that they're selling it without tax (excise & gst) and only having a small markup. 🙄

    For Dan's $63
    1000ml.at 40% taxes at 97.60/1l of alcohol
    0.4 (40%) x 97.60 = $39.16 in excise.
    And ~$5.70 in gst.
    So ~$44 of the $63 is tax.

    That leaves $19 in cost+profit for kraken & Dan.

    How can dutyfree justify $58.80? It should be half that.

    This is pretty damn good, and im a Serious rum drinker.

    Kraken and gingerbeer is pretty god damn top tier

    Name a better spiced rum in the price bracket. This shits on Sailor Jerry, Baron Samedi and Captain Morgan’s spiced offerings.

  I'm keen for OP/high % rums since Captain Morgan OP left the market. Has anyone found any solid, strong rums?

  I've tried:
  Plantation OFTD Overproof (good, but $100 odd a bottle)
  Passionfruit Grenade Navy Strength (flavour, blargh)
  Bundy OP (drinkable but also blargh)
  Castle Glen Overproof (OK)
  Castle Glen (OK)

  Just increasing the quantity of booze doesn't seem to give the same petrol-sipping burn :(

  Highly recommend Bundaberg Master Distillers Small Batch Vintage Barrel Rum as the pick of the Bundy's as it's not harsh like the OG.

  If you want a strong rum, try Appleton Estate (Jamaican rum).

  My top 3 are:
  Ron Zacapa 23
  Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva
  Flor de Cana 12 Year Old Rum

    I miss Captain Morgan OP, you used to be able to get 1.25 litre bottles at duty free for $2x, but now it's no longer avail anywhere 😭
