Converting Gift Cards for Cash

Hi there,

I was recently gifted gift cards for our baby and most of them are cards where I can spend only at a participating outlet. I don't think I need anything from those brands for now.

How do I convert these gift cards for cash or be able to use them at some other outlet?

PS: i have the baby gift card which allows spends at baby bunting, H&M, booktopia and more.

Turn card over, see the bit that says not redeemable for cash

or be able to use them at some other outlet?

Whilst you have the card over, see the bit that says only redeemable at these stores

Then you're lucky that gift cards last at least 3 years, so in the future when you do need something you'll be ready.

Sell them at a 20% discount on face value.

    Baby bunting price matches btw

    • Hey, what does this mean?

Also, what happens if hypothetically I buy something from baby bunting with the gift card and then return it back. Do they pay back in cash?

  • use them at some other outlet

No can do, unless you're bartering (with the staff).

They should last 3-4 years, so probably best to use them by planning for sales and things you need in advance (yes, it's a pain in the arse). Gently tell gift givers to never do sth like this again.

Unless it's a big face value and discount, it's hard to see someone buying Booktopia GCs (min shipping cost and Amazon convenience, price competition).

Another option is to regift them.
