Hey Oz Bargain Community,

Between June 1st-15th we're undergoing some operational improvements to equipment and software. During that two week period our dispatch capabilities may be temporarily impacted. To be on the safe side we've decided to bite the bullet and not dispatch while these improvements are being implemented. As such, we thought we should throw one more coffee deal party before June commences, so here we go :)

We're offering you a 40% discount off 3 different Single Origins (well technically 4 as our SWP Decaf is included) and 25% off 2 newly launched exciting Carbonic Maceration Single Origins, as well as the Hario Handy Smart G Electric Grinder, see all the details below:

1) Peru Chanchamayo Single Origin, only $11.99 per 400g (usually $19.99 per 400g), and $21.11 per 800g (usually $35.18 per 800g)

2) Brazil São Paulo Single Origin, only $11.99 per 400g (usually $19.99 per 400g), and $21.11 per 800g (usually $35.18 per 800g)

3) NOW SOLD OUT Colombia Cauca Single Origin, only $12.47 per 400g (usually $20.79 per 400g), limited remaining stock on hard of this Single, so only available in 400g to ensure we don't oversell it

4) NEW LAUNCHED El Salvador Usulután Carbonic Maceration Natural Jasper Single Origin, only $28.50 per 400g (usually $38 per 400g). If you enjoyed our Ethiopia and Kenya Natural CMs, this one should knock your socks off

5) NEWLY LAUNCHED Kenya Nyeri Carbonic Maceration Double Washed Indigo Processed Single Origin, only $22.50 per 400g (usually $30 per 400g). This one tips the hat to our wildly popular recent Single Origins from Kenya. If you really enjoyed our Kenya Nyeri Washed and Peaberry Single Origins, then you should love this one

6) Swiss Water Process Decaf, only $13.19 per 400g bag (usually $21.99 per 400g), and $23.51 per 800g bag (usually $39.18 per 800g)

7) As our Carbonic Maceration Single Origin is exclusively available in whole bean form we're offering 25% off the Hario Smart G Handy Electric Grinder, only $149.25 (usually $199) to help anyway interested transition from pre-ground to ground-on-demand or some anyone looking for a second grinder for alternate coffees e.g. El Salvador CM SO

Deal valid for orders placed until 2/06/2023, unless sold out before. You can pick from the available green circle dispatch dates on the cart page. Dispatch can happen for you as near as Monday and as far as the last Friday in June. Once a given dispatch date is at full capacity the green circle will be removed and date will turn red. We already have a few hundred orders scheduled for dispatch in the first half of next week, so I recommend getting your orders placed in speedy fashion before we hit next week's dispatch capacity, first in best dressed :)

Some helpful info:

  • You're welcome to place multiple orders scheduled for dispatch at various dates (delayed dispatch) to make the most of this deal, we strive to dispatch our fresh coffee within 48 business hours of roasting
  • One dispatch per order
  • All bags are resealable
  • Unlike our other products where you select quantity and then packaging size, for this deal the quantity selected is also equal to the packaging size e.g. 400g is a 400g bag, so if you'd like 800g in 400g bags add 400g to your cart, then on the cart page increase quantity from 1 to 2, to see an updated price on the cart page simply click the refresh button, it's near the checkout button and looks like letter C with an arrow "⟳"
  • Complimentary gift notes can be written in the designated space on the cart page

Following the success of our first trial of new shipping rates, we've decided to extend these for this deal too :)
FREE SHIPPING for orders over $69. Here's two examples to get you over the $69 threshold via this deal, we recommend freezing any excess bags purchased to quality for free shipping; 6x400g Brazil = $71.94 or 4x400g Brazil + 1x800g Peru = $69.07

  • $6.99 No Delivery Company Preference Flat Rate Shipping (No Parcel Locker/PO Box/Collect)

  • Which grind for moka pot?

    • Morning @helpme appreciate the double check!

"Stovetop Grind" should be the winner for you. Just a different name for the same brewing method :)

      • Thank you! Ordered :)

        • Fantastic, thank you so much!!!

  • Any deals on the excellent Moments to Memories? I'm getting low.

    • Morning @gareth886 thank you so much for that wonderful compliment, music to my ears to know you've found Moments to be "excellent!"

Appreciate the check in, never hurts to ask. Can't have you running out of the good stuff, so the good news is Moments to Memories is currently available to order. However, it's not part of this particular deal. There's a wide range of other options currently at a discounted price. That said, if you're 100% set on getting Moments you could get a small bag at full-price to tie you over, until the next time it's on special. That said there's no telling when it will be on special again. Whenever it does I highly recommend placing a few orders with different dispatch dates to make the most of the deal pricing, as the deal of tomorrow is promised to no one :)

Hi OP, are you no longer selling 500g and 1KG bags, they seem to have dropped down to 400/800g bags :(

    • +9

Hey @name not-important appreciate you reaching out the check!

As per our prior deal " As promised if we got to the next delivery contract volume level we'd be in a position to further reduce our flat rate shipping rates for you. I will admit it was a challenge to get there, but we're so happy we did. A few unique points to this specific deal. For the first time ever there's an opportunity for free shipping. Delivery companies have implemented new sorting machine with different weight thresholds. 1kg of coffee used to cost us 1kg shipping weight. Now 1kg coffee (plus 20-50 grams of packaging) costs us 3kg shipping weight. We've requested more reasonable delivery cost weight brackets (big jump from 1kg to 3kg) e.g. to the nearest 500g or charge pro rata by the gram, but they won't budge. To combat this, as a trial specific to this deal, coffee quantity increment increases are 400g instead of 500g and 800g instead of 1kg. Don't worry there's no pro rata extra cost to you, e.g. Brazil 500g @ 40% discount = $14.99 x 80% = 400g @ 40% discount $11.99 and 1kg @ 40% discount = $26.39 x 80% = 800g @ 40% discount $21.11. Even though our packaging/time costs increase with these new increments, our shipping cost savings from the overcharge delivery company weight brackets outweighs these extra costs."

In a nutshell, the per gram price has not changes from 500g and 1kg bag. The different increment sizes mixed with new delivery company contract negations has enabled us to test lower shipping costs for customers and for the first time ever a "free shipping with min spend" option. It's not 100% decided to permanently change quantity increments, this is just a follow up test after the success of our other 400g, 800g, free and reduced shipping tests. We always do testing before making any significant changes, letting customers do the talking with their orders. So far the data indicates people are open to switching to 400g and 800g bags to get free/reduced shipping. Plus the extra bonus of smaller bag sizes making it easier to keep coffee fresh for longer and mix and match different products in a given order :)

  • What in tarnation is a carbonic maceration? Is it a new tiktok dance?

Haha @salem fair and slightly amusing question, before I first heard about CM coffees it my thoughts were on a similar track to your first question :)

Here's a snippet info on our CM product pages, each CM has a slightly different process, so further details unique to each CM are also liked on product pages:

"All coffee goes through a fermentation process to remove the beans (seeds) from the coffee fruit (cherry). Historically speaking Carbonic Maceration is an anaerobic fermentation processed used to create vibrant, fruity, light, red wines. CM processed coffees go through an additional fermentation process to accentuate certain flavour characteristics. These cherries are hand picked and sorted, so only ripe cherries make it to the fermentation stage. These ripe coffee cherries are placed in the airtight tanks still in whole cherries for 2-3 days, during this time the tanks are filled with with CO2 which in turn expels Oxygen from the tank. While the cherries are fermenting in these anaerobic tanks the temperature, yeast activity and humidity levels are carefully monitored to enhance the inherit flavour characteristics of the coffee."

      • Feedback regarding your emails. FREE DELIVERY on the header and then no mention of minimum spend in the email body at all. I find it annoying/misleading that I have to click through to your website to see "Free Shipping for orders over $69.00" in banner up the top.
I see a lot of effort goes into the description and ordering proccessses so understand that this is more likely an oversight rather than click-bait.
        Cheers.

        • Hey @nepalesesquirrel thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback!

I understand this from your perspective and do appreciate that you rightly believe it was not a click-bait attempt. We do our best to publish what we believe to be genuine deals to form strong long-term relationship with our customers and click-bait tactics would undo all our hard work. With this deal you can genuinely get free shipping and 40% off. The same people who received the email this morning were also sent an email on the 11th of May specifically detailing the testing of new flat rate shipping prices in addition to the free shipping test and how to obtain it. Furthermore, given we've installed a floating banner in bright colours at the top of our site ( I know you say you didn't want to have to go to the site to see the banner) and all the details are listed on our site's Delivery FAQ page too, I thought all bases were covered to make it unambiguous. However, I'm not perfect and do understand text interpretation is subjective. We appreciate and take feedback onboard. Although we only received 3 emails today asking about the free shipping, that was enough for me to send a Shipping clarification email to everyone this morning who was sent an email about the deal.

To go even one step further to show that our intention is never to be misleading in any way; if anyone has placed an order today before 12pm AEST (this time allows for any server delays in this shipping clarification email hitting inboxes, as it was sent to thousands of people) via clicking on this morning's deal email (not via Oz Bargain click because the shipping info was explicitly started from when we posted the deal here) and they felt misled by the "free shipping" mentioned in the subject line of today's deal email. Then they can simply send an email letting us know they'd like to cancel their order, we'll cancel their order and issue an ASAP full refund. Any cancelation requests for the above reason must be done prior to their order being dispatch and this deal ending. To show this is a genuine offer and not a "click-bait" approach of, if we have to refund then we're no worse off financially, any refunds will likely result in a financial loss to us because payment processors e.g. Paypal, do not return their payment processing fee when an order is refunded. I hope this clears things up for you @nepalesesquirrel once again thank you for your feedback :)

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: My point was that it is not included anywhere in the email about the minimum spend and i HAVE to click through to the website to see it, thats all.
Pretty aure you have to include it in your title on this deal post for example.

            • @nepalesesquirrel: I understand what you're saying @nepalesesquirrel your feedback is appreciated and duly noted.

As mentioned, I didn't believe there'd be any confusion. As soon as I was alerted to the fact that some people may interpret the email in a different manner to its intention I stopped what I was doing and sent out a clarification email (several hours before your initial comment here).

I've put my hand up and acknowledged I'm not perfect (a current work in progress and I learn from my experiences), but I took action as soon as I realised there was any potential for confusion and I've publically offered to fully refund any orders placed via email prior to the clarification email being sent. I sincerely hope we're on the same page now :)

              • @LimeBlueCoffee: All good, i wasnt attacking you, i have ordered and enjoyed your coffee in the past and appreciate the effort thst you put in, which seems a lot with your delayed shipping etc.

                • @nepalesesquirrel: Morning @nepalesesquirrel I really appreciate your thoughtful, complimentary response and am really happy to know you enjoy our fresh coffee. I'm relieved to know we're still in your good books and I promise we'll keep working hard to stay there!

Thank you so much for placing another order with us, it really does mean a lot :)

Anyone have any recommendations which beans go well with milk? Usually prefer a normal chocolate tasting coffee and get blends

    • Hey @johnnytran appreciate the reach out, never hurts to ask!

In terms of options within this deal, I think you'll really enjoy our Brazil SO as well as our Peru SO. Although not part of this current deal, our Moments to Memories blend is also currently available and terrific for milk based coffees :)

  • Would get some if July's despatch dates are available!

    • Hey @SmashedMango another order from you sounds terrific!

Our July dispatch schedule is still in the planning phase, so isn't ready to release just yet. Sounds enough we'll launch it, but it'll likely happen after this deal. If anything specific catches your eye for this deal you could always take advantage of your handy freezer to keep the good stuff nice and fresh until you're ready to get stuck in :)

      • Unfortunately freezer space is a challenge hence only buying a bag at a time. Here's hoping for another Brazil deal in a few weeks :)

        • Sure thing, nothing wrong with one bag at a time. If you get a larger freezer down the track then there's still the option of a few bags at a time without compromise for freshness. Don't yet know exactly when or what our next deal will look like, fingers crossed whatever it is makes it a winner for you :)

  • Bought some. What is the best way to freeze beans? I know that throwing the bag in is a no no due to the valve.

I have tried freezing in the past and when I go to make coffee, the water just flows through the puck really quick like stale coffee.

    • I know that throwing the bag in is a no no due to the valve.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_NOVmzssBI

TLDR: freeze the bag. This is a one time thing tho.

      • Appreciate the answer assist @Jofzar good link input :)

Morning @skidexa appreciate you taking the time to reach out!

Nice question. You're spot on about putting the bag in the freezer by itself. Doing this wouldn't guarantee a negative outcome, but it does heighten the chances of freezer burn. Just chucking the bag in the freezer does post a slight risk of the one way valve getting frozen in the open position potentially leading to freezer burn.

There's pros and cons to different methods of freezing. The best balance of quality and efficiency is simply to put the sealed bag of coffee into a zip lock bag and then into your freezer. If you are after the most efficient method, then put the coffee bag in the freezer by itself, but wait 2 weeks after the roast day to lower the risk of the one-way vale freezing in the open position. If you're after the highest quality results, then pre-portion the coffee into single or fortnightly doses, vacuum seal these doses and then put them into the freezer, of course this is the most time consuming and requires a vacuum sealer or vac seal container.

In terms of your water flow experience, are you grinding the coffee while frozen? How have you been storing the coffee in the freezer to result in that experience? After the shot is the puck on more dry or muddy?

      • It was a while ago but I think I took out half the coffee to use and stored the rest in the freezer which wasnt ideal. Then when it was time to use, I left it in room temp before grinding.

Thanks for the tips, I will definitely try experiment with this and see how I go.

        • Sure thing, appreciate the extra info. Depending on how the half was stored in your freezer, it may have had freezer burn or simply needed a bit more tweaking on the extraction side of things…

You're most welcome, glad my tips were helpful. You're always welcome to reach out via email with any further questions. Happy experimenting :)

  • Hey Tom, which SO is better with oat milk? Colombia or Brazil? Strong coffee and prefer not towards the acidic.

    • Hey @tulalit very happy you reached out to check, always best to ask!

Based on your specific info (very helpful, thank you), hands down I believe our Brazil will be the winner for you :)

      • Thank you Tom! Dang your Colombia has sold out. I was thinking to try. I have ordered Brazil many times - thank you for the suggestion though.

        • Shucks, shame you missed it this time around @tulalit our Colombia SO sure is popular, selling out at lightning speed. Fingers crossed you're able to try it some time in the future :)

Thank you souch for placing another terrific order with us, your continued orders really do mean so much!

  • Omg cauca is sold out! How did I miss this all day

    • Indeed @fusion17 that one sold out like hot cakes and by the looks of it may not be the only one to sell out during this deal!

Shame you missed out on our Cauca this time around, but good news is there's still some availability on other delicious coffees. Although the Cauca will remain sold out for this deal, we're seeing if we'll be able to secure more supply down the track, fingers crossed :)

  • I just got Sao Paulo beans roasted 24 May delivered. To get a satisfactory dial-in (i.e. 1:2 at 20-25s), I had to reduce the basket weight to 18g and set the grind size exceptionally coarse - coarser than any other specialty brand I've purchased over the last 2 years including the same Sao Paulo beans which I've purchased multiple times. Has anyone else experienced something similar with a recent batch?

@LimeBlueCoffee I've sent you an email regarding this.

    • Hey @boretentsu once again thank you for taking the time to provide such a detailed email, which I've replied to :)

As per our correspondence in January, I recommended you try a 16 grams does, as you have a 54mm basket I believe 20 grams may be too high for your machine.

In terms of coarseness that directly relates to bean density, as such porosity, this is impacted by a number of factors. If you were using a 58mm basket and had the same experience I would say your burrs likely need replacing because a change to the porosity our Brazil to that extent of substantial coarseness and a dose reduction was needed would be so drastic that we would instantly know something went wrong during the roast and the coffee would not be dispatched e.g. if the pilot light went out mid roast.

Looking forward to getting your morning kick starts back on track via email ASAP :)

      • Thanks, I've replied back by email but to close the loop, I'm making room for the fact that this current coarser setting might have been the better one. Will know for sure if I try on another batch.

  • Why am I only able to order 2 x 800g of the Brazil. When I try to add 3 it removes it from my cart after I choose ideal date.

    • Hey @ozmarketersdream sincerely appreciate you letting us know about this!

Was a technical glitch, should all be fixed now. Please refresh your page and have another crack, fingers crossed :)

      • Thank you.

        • :)

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: It is working now thank you.

            • @ozmarketersdream: Shucks, that a pain, appreciate your patience!

I've checked again and it appears to be working on the site. You may need to clear your cache. Could you please email a screenshot to [email protected]? If it's still playing up I'll create an order on my side and email the payment link to you :)

I finished my usual subscription early so topped up with lb for the first time.

    Columbian - great coffee. Recommended.
Kenya cm and the el salvador cm - both good. A bit baked for omni in my opinion, and beans had variations in colour.

Overall, im enjoying the coffee. Can recommend them over the typical OzB favourites

    • Hey @originalfake I'm so glad for the opportunity of you trying us our, thank you so much for your order and feedback!

Very happy to know you've enjoyed your first few coffee with us so much and your vote of confidence does mean a lot :)

I 100% appreciate that flavour interpretation is a subjective thing, so I'll address your feedback form an objective technical perspective. Baked coffees are usually the result of prolonged roasts and/or ROR profile crashing. From a technical roast profile perspective our CMs aren't baked, simply because our ROR must be decently paced but in an even gradual manner, this is to accentuate acidity levels without losing control of the bean temp. Due to the nature of how the coffees are processed and the fact we roast them in relatively small batches its quite easy for the beans to get way too hot too quickly and end up past second crack without our very careful monitoring. Sometime the difference between a good and amazing coffee can simply be a few extraction tweaks. When you get a sec please feel welcome to shoot us an email detailing your current extraction method, in case we can offer a few small tweak to further optimize the flavour. In terms of the different coloured beans, as we mention on our CM bag labels, this is perfectly normal and is a result of the unique fermentation process AKA the green/raw coffee varies in colour before we even drop the charge in the roaster, the variation in colour is not due to an uneven roast.

Once again thank you so much for your order and feedback, it really does mean a great deal to us :)
