Humidifier + Dehumidifier Combo? and Possibly Air Purifier as Well

Hi, I've been searching and am unsure if such a product exists. I would appreciate it if anyone could help out.

I was thinking on a split system, you can both have an aircon and heater in a single unit. Select a target temperature on auto mode, and not need to worry about it.

Could there be a similar product that you can just adjust to a target ideal humidity level like 50%, and let it do its work without worrying which mode it is in.

    Isn't that a reverse-cycle air conditioner?

    Like this?

    https://www.rinnai.com.au/online/cooling/inverter-split-syst…

"With a powerful heating and cooling output, this efficient reverse cycle air conditioner features an innovative dehumidifying mode that effectively manages room humidity levels. "

    • Isn't that a reverse-cycle air conditioner?

I think they were using that as an example of how RCAC can do hot and cold just by using an auto setting, and so they want a similar thing for a de/humidifier, without the heating/cooling element.

(Also just noting on RCACs, the dehumidifying functions don’t typically work too well in heating mode.)

Seen plenty of dehumidifier/purifier combination units (overseas) but never a humidifier/dehumidifier. Seems like a weird combination- half the year one function would be completely useless, then the next half the other.

Why would you want to add humidity to your room? It just helps the dust mites, bacteria, and mould proliferate.

      • I'm not the one asking for a humidifier, ask the OP :)

      • If the humidity level falls below 30%, one would need something to bring it back up right?

      • Just run them both at the same time.

    • But if you want the exact percentage, it would use both mode to target that right?

Why would you want an exact percentage- are you manufacting semiconductors in a clean room?

Dehumidifiers can be set to a specific figure. Not sure about humidifiers, I've never bothered with them.

        • probs just being OCD, but if it's going to be hard them probs not needed.

          • @reactvue: If the air does get too dry for comfort, you can easily add humidity to a room by boiling water in the room, leaving a bowl/ pot of water sitting on a table, hanging out your wet towel/ laundry to dry in that room, etc. It's a lot harder to remove moisture from the air.

The RH only needs to be within a reasonable range for human comfort.

  • RH is heavily influenced by temperature, it's not an absolute measure. Personally I don't think it's worth worrying about as long as it's not uncomfortable or a breeding ground for mold.

Just get a dehumidifier and set it to 50%. If it drops below that's a good thing, less mould / issues etc. If you have humans living in the space humidity will naturally want to rise over time.
