Does this make a good hat

  • Thank you! 😊

    Has anyone ever tried Nobsound?

This Fosi should be slightly better I believe, and the form factor is a lot nicer.

I’ve got an SMSL & two Nobsound/Douk amps on my gaming rig.

EDIT: That Nobsound you linked does have a USB input, if you want to use it direct to a PC or console…

  • Its annoying that none of these cheap amps come with their ideal psu (24v), same thing with my voll amp.
Speaking of which, would this sound better? I noticed the thd is a bit lower and the snr looks good (cant see it for the voll 50), but always cautious of specs on chinese products.

Do these make any sound when connecting BT, beeps, boops or otherwise?

The cheapo one I'm currently using (like this) shouts in Chinglish any time BT randomly connects or disconnects, which is usually in the middle of the night (it's permanently on, connected to an Echo Dot and Krix in-ceiling speakers). Had to connect a Jongo I had here to handle the BT quietly but would rather have it all in one.

    • Flicking through the 1 star reviews I did see one (translated from German) that said "without annoying acknowledgement messages" but the rest was not promising. Doing same as what I want to do with it but complained of massive delays between asking Alexa something and hearing the response. Bunch of others with various BT complaints too.

I guess it's just gonna be a try and see.

Just to confirm, it does not make any beeps etc when connecting via Bluetooth. There is a very quiet internal click from the unit - sounds like a relay.

        • Cheers, and saw your other comment though no aptX on the Echo Dot of course so see how it goes but looks promising.
Got one on order but no local stock so wont see it until next week unfortunately..

  • looks neat for a small room or garage setup…especially at that price
although am i seeing a lot of negative reviews in relation to sound quality and BT connection?

  • anyone got one and can comment on sound quality over BT?

The Qualcomm QCC3003 Bluetooth module supports aptX.

So if you have a phone that supports aptX, then it should be ok.

I ordered one (arriving today) to drive some outdoor speakers, so I will plug it in and test in the next few hours.

Turns out the speakers I have are not great, so hard to tell exactly how good the Bluetooth side of the sound quality is.

Seems reasonable though. It has quite low input lag, which is a good sign. And makes it useful for audio with video.

I am testing with a phone that supports aptX though, so without that support it might not be as good.

      • thanks for the info prong
had a look at phone specs and can only support 4.2, A2DP, LE so might give it a miss as i reckon BT wont be very good from my device

  • This sort of amps really misses the mark, if you buy an active speakers pair why buy another cheap dac and power source, if you buy a passive pair they wouldnt be cheap this amp is probably not going to deliver the clean power and dac that you need, only buy if you dont care about 50 bucks

    • Or you already have speakers.

These are aimed at people who want a Bluetooth enabled amp for things like existing built in outdoor speakers. The large Bluetooth antenna helps give excellent range which is handy for outdoor use.

Or people with old but quality speakers from a dead sound system, or want a simple cheap setup in the garage etc. You can often pick up perfectly good, high quality speakers for free or cheap from people selling or giving away old audio systems.

      • I completely agree with the bluetooth bit, these are very versatile, could use it to extend those existing systems without digital wireless play, i didnt regret i bought mine, it will come handy again one day who knows, its cheap enough to not care about the cost.

  • Thanks OP, been looking for a discount on one of these for a while.
