Blackvue DR750X1CHPLUS - Is This a Good Price/Decent Upgrade?

Hey Guys

Ive seen Blackvue DR750X1CHPLUS at https://crashcamsaustralia.com.au/blackvue-dr750x1chplus-ful…

It comes to 386.10 incl shipping; I havent been in the market for a dash cam in many many many years

I currently have a BlackVue 650GW, which id say is abooouuutttt 6-7 years old. It works fine still but the internal battery is broken so the date/time stamp doesnt retain correctly, the app crashes as I have to use the legacy one, and the audio records are broken, recorded sounds come up distorted, i think its the microphone (I used to pump the tunes!).

So Im looking for a easy swap. I wanted to stick with BlackVue as the wiring is all there, so I dont need to touch anything.

Keen to hear peoples thoughts?

  • That's a run out model, there is a new DR770X that has just been released, so they are trying to get rid of the old model.

There has also been lots of complaints about the new update to the app where it forces you to sign up to their cloud service, and you just can't connect to the camera. Example

It also won't be an easy swap from the 650 to 750 as the size of the units are different so the 750 won't fit into the 650 mount. The wires are also different, because the 750 as inbuilt magic box features, the wires seem thicker.

    • Oh fml. I was a little like YOLO.

I did see the 770x but didnt see that in aus.. or could i tell any difference between 750x plus and 770x

I dont hard wire. I have a cell link battery b under my seat, so in that case is the power connection the same to a cigarette plug?

      • so in that case is the power connection the same to a cigarette plug?

No, the cable, socket and plug are all bigger on the 750x and not compatible with 650. I know this because I had a 650gw die on me, and I had to drive the car that it was installed it, I thought I could quickly pull out the 750x from my other car and swap it over and be plug and play. but it unfortunately wasn't the case.

I ended up having to physically force the 750x into the 650 mount, only the tip fit and was just secure enough for a temp solution. I then had to run the spare cable from the 750x kit(it comes with 2 wires, one for hard wire, and one for cigarette plug) to the cigarette plug.

Around easter time. I was looking for another 750x to replace the 650gw, that's when I found out blackvue trying to sell the 750x model as a run out, but the prices still weren't cheaper than previous deals for the 750x that have been posted here. Then I started reading the comments and people complained about the new app. So I'm just waiting atm, for the 770x to actually be released in Aus, so that there are better deals for the 750x, and hopefully by then Blackvue have fixed the app woes. Have tried to look at other brands, but no other dashcams really compares.
