Purchasing Instax Mini Film from Overseas?

You can probably guess why I'm asking.

I was going to post a deal regarding Instax Mini Film from Amazon JP but thought that it might not be safe for the film to be shipped here. I've read lots of things about taking it as hand luggage etc when flying but nothing much about shipping. Does anyone know if it's safe or have experience shipping Instax Mini film in from overseas?

  • I've had SX-70 film shipped from the US and have taken multiple film packs of it through airport security and have never faced any issues using it later.

I am not sure whether 600 and i-Type film would face issues with x-ray scanners, due to those types of film having a higher ISO than SX-70 film.

What kind of film did you have in mind?

    • Hello Kitty Instax Mini Polaroid Film

Not my kinda thing but the prices on some of the ones with cute characters look to be a lot cheaper. Some styles don't seem to be readily available here.

To be really pedantic, that is Fujifilm Instax Mini film, not Polaroid film.

I do not use Instax film, so I cannot help you there.

        • Ok. I don't know the difference.

@ozbs25: To me, Polaroid film is instant film produced by the company called Polaroid for the following Polaroid cameras:

The film you linked to in your comment above is for Fujifilm Instax Mini cameras, which is an entirely different instant film camera system created by Fujifilm, and the film is also produced by Fujifilm using their own chemical formulations.1

I appreciate that some people tend to use Polaroid as a generic term for instant film cameras (including Instax Mini), but you have to be careful, because some people will see the term Polaroid film and immediately think of the film produced by Polaroid.

            1. There was actually a Polaroid 300 camera released around 2010 that was really just a Polaroid-branded Fujifilm Instax Mini camera, and there was Polaroid 300 film that could be used in both Polaroid 300 camera and Fujifilm Instax Mini cameras. However, the Polaroid 300 is now discontinued.

      • While the styles might not be available here, $31 for 10 sheets is damned expensive for that film

Yeah it is. Can get it for under $13 from Amazon JP, which is why I'm wondering if it's safe or not.

  • I’ve taken instax mini film. In my carry on before didn’t seem to affect

  • I've purchased many Instax film internationally. Always been fine

    • Ok. I'll post the deal but put a warning I suppose?
