Navigating to Terry White Product Pages from Google Shopping

I often see good prices at Terry White on Google Shopping, but can never find the product, as their website requires us to pick a store before showing us prices. How does one ever navigate this dreaded Kafkian website?!

But they are going to the website via the Google Shopping ads. And then they have this problem!

Bunnings does the same thing. I think Officeworks does a similar thing.

Google shopping is very generic and is often based on the post code of 2000 which is where Google does its checks from. So it could say $9.99 on Google Shopping but in VIC, the pricing is $12.99 when you enter your VIC post code.

Just remember, businesses often have to pay to be in Google Shopping places (in some cases it can be Free). So they are being charged for your click, but not getting your business, so a very poor conversion rate and no ROI. So because of their bad website, its costing them money all round.

Bingo! I did find the item at a store near me (cycling through the stores one by one!), but as soon as I selected a store at 2000, there it was!

Ditto. I think I understand why they did that; they're a franchise, and franchisees are at liberty to set discounts, so they don't want to promote competition amongst them, lest they end up with an internal price war in their hands. But, either way, the outcome is pretty poor.

  • When you figure this out can you help me find the cheapest comparable product in the Bazaar that is Chemist Warehouse either in store or online - inflation by obfuscation.

Best for that I found is PriceHipster, which also tells you what the historical minimum is, showing a graph of their off and on discounts, and lets you set alerts for it.
